Google Reviews, do they help you with your decision making criteria?

Examples are below. Or do you prefer a more "trusted" review, such as those that come from posters' on here?

Do they help? Yes but I don't take 1 site's reviews and run with it. Also, I rarely read positive reviews; I focus on the negative reviews to find out what the problems are and if they're significant.

My kid will get my phone, go to text messages, start typing letters and choosing the recommended words that pop up at random. That first review reads like one of those...

I look at reviews, but don't put a ton of stock into them, unless I see patterns.

I'll read them but I only value the info if it seems to be coming from a reasonable, well thought out person. Any review that sounds like the person is drunk off their arse or dumb as hell I ignore which is most reviews. If there is a shite ton of reviews I will pay more attention though.

If a review starts off with a statement in all cap like "WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!", I automatically ignore it. However, if I see criticism towards the same service/item from different posters I'll probably take their word for it.

Reviews are about patterns and trends.

I definitely look at them when I'm trying something new, but you have to be mindful of the extreme reviews (good or bad)

I tend to look only at 3* reviews. You have to have a pretty balanced opinion on something to actively review it as average.

You see too many 5* reviews that just say, "OMG! I've had this for 3 minutes and it's the greatest EVAR!!!!"

1* reviews tend to be the exact opposite. So I focus on the 3* and will look at some 2 and 4* as well.

I own a small insurance agency and they absolutely do help. I get calls at least twice a week due to the reviews. They are an easy part of my marketing strategy.

I enjoy acme. You have to know what not to order from a seafood place like that though. it's obviously frozen shrimp and 'mild white fish'. what do you expect

If I'm on eBay and I see a seller with 20,000 products sold and like 99.6% positive feedback..

And another seller with 20 things sold and 30% positive reviews..

I'm going with option 1. So yes...and tripadvisor, I read those on places.

I'm in retail and the majority of our negative reviews are miserable frickers who wanted free stuff or a discount when it wasn't warranted, so they bash us. Some of our highly positive reviews are friends, family, and loyal customers trying to help us out. It's hard to sift through and find an unbiased, honest online review.

Lol @ the 5-star police presence at Triple-S.
