Hold up, you’re telling me the government choosing which businesses are “essential” during a pandemic and forcibly shutting down small businesses while the large corporations saw record profits isn’t capitalism?

Clearly written by someone who has never tried to run a business

You're a fricking idiot.

That's a retarded take. The free market didn't affect their business. Government handouts affected the work place. The government handing out free money has nothing to do with the free market.

Hell a client can actually decrease hazardous waste stream at a plant by half but EPA regs make it too expensive

Honest question: Didn't Louisiana stop accepting increased federal unemployment benefits? I thought we were back down to our "among the lowest in the nation" benefits, or am I misremembering?
The responses on this thread are making me think I've missed something.
P.S. I don't think unemployment should exist at all, so don't come at me with that shite.

Market forces” did not restrict the supply of workers, absurd UE benefits did. That’s not the Market, that’s the govt interfering
Politics are part of “the market.” For decades the majority of people have chosen to elect big government types over libertarian types. The market chose UE over no safety net.

Extended UE benefits haven't been a thing for quite a while in a lot of states.
Louisiana's just ended August 1st but several states ended theirs earlier.

Hmm.
My company has upped minimum wage to $11 an hour. And I can say that we are getting solid workers.
Before the benefits ran out we got people that are willing to take the least desirable jobs but have the drive to work up or advance in our company.
These associates have passed background checks and gone through a gauntlet of questionnaires. They just weren't led well.
I have faith in the lower class. It's white and black and Latino. But just offering a more liveable wage has helped my company.
I think everyone can agree that the cost of living has spun out of control and we need to keep things in perspective.
The jobs are there. But even working 3 jobs at $9 an hour won't put a dent in what's needed.

Explain to me how the Government giving out unemployment benefits is a free market?
The people decide who their elected officials are.

It’s not free market and basic supply and demand when the government is paying people more to stay home than work. Whoever wrote that isn’t very smart or honest.
Posted on 8/20/21 at 8:17 pm to Jon Ham
The first line renders the point invalid.
Their love of a free market went no where. When the government is making it more lucrative to live off their dime and not earn their money through hard work and achievements, the free market no longer exists

The discussion is about Free Market as stated in the OP. Not "the market" that you have shifted to in this post to try and justify and wiggle out of the stupidity.
The free market by definition is devoid of outside influence ie exactly like the government or politics no matter how people vote.
Typical lazy communist ignorant takes though. No surprise coming from the left these days.

You're an idiot.
Not only have I cleaned out my 401k to keep my employees with a paycheck, I get my arse out there and do what needs to be done.
You sound like a life long loser who will never amount to anything and blame everyone but yourself for it

Also a horrible take because wages are being set by government agencies and not the market. No one needs $15/ hour to flip burgers. That’s not market driven. That’s libtard philosophy driven.
And chances are that owner is and has flipped many burgers while some loser called in sick or sat in jail on a drug charge. Terrible take indeed.
