Rental Car Driver Repositioner

I had a couple of friends in college that had this job. Everyone that did this job was either college age or retired.

The older guys hated the younger guys that were incompetent jerk-offs, but if you showed up on time and had common sense, then they loved you.

The retirees would cover for my friends, give them tips on how to deal with corporate boondoggles, re-arrange their schedules, etc.

My buddies loved their older co-workers.

Donate your time to charity or helping people in need. If you need money then don’t retire.

You boomers really don’t get it.

Finally deciding to retire but instead of spending your time enjoying yourself or helping others, instead you want to go find an entry level job part time job that would be perfect for someone maybe in school or just entering the work force.

Was in Bozeman, MT and a retired teacher was driving the hotel airport shuttle. His wife had passed and he was bored. He regaled us with stories of the area and passed out tourist maps. Seemed quite happy.

dad did this over in Destin. Was looking to join a club and saw an advert in the locker room at one of the clubs. Never paid for a round in 15 years. He liked to be a marshal and drive around the course and tell people to pick the pace. He would shag balls in the water hazard and sell on ebay. Did really well. When he passed he had a small storage unit we found out about with about 50 5 gallon buckets of golf balls labeled with condition.

This describes exactly what I am doing. Marshall two days a week and get free golf and find an average of 30 golf balls a shift. For every one Nitro or Noodle I find 2 ProV1’s.

Looking to retire in the next year or so, but also interested in working maybe 16 hours a week. Anyone have any experience with good post retirement jobs that don’t require many hours?

The long haired old dudes working at the Flora-Bama seem to have it pretty good. Smoke weed, listen to music and enjoy the scenery.

Get a good hobby, not a job.

I fish and do nice woodworking projects. If you really needed side cash, you can make some woodworking.

There is zero chance I could work for a boss anymore. Do you really want to be told what to do and then evaluated on it?

You pick up rental cars from locations (or the airport) and bring them to a rental location and drop it off. You don't have to deal with the public since you only are driving from one location to reposition the car to another location. I think they only let you work about 20 hours a week. It's a bunch of old guys that do it.

I’d go work at a marina. Fuel boats up, give them ice, etc etc. That way id have a place to take my boat to get all the same and probably not pay.

Golf course - do that now. Maybe go mow rough for a few hours a day and not a damn soul I made a career out of it.

Hot dog cart on the beach and look at young tits and arse all day.

Id think putting the two kids together at least would make the most sense.

Maybe they figured they could just make more if one of them got lost.

I have been in IT for years. I sold my company, waited for the non-compete to expire and hung out my shingle as a consultant. I'm 75+ and have a pretty good income from working about 10 hours a week, most of my billable hours at done in my recliner by remoting into the client systems.

It's a pretty sweet gig, I love doing the work anyway, I'm very picky about who I choose as a client, if you're a PITA, find someone else.

Make sure you enjoy what you do.

Dad worked as a custodian at the FBI building on the lake front for a couple years after he retired from the govt trying to get his additional SS credits.

Made good money like 45K or something/year for easy work.

I can't imagine closing in on retirement and busying myself with figuring out what kind of job I'm going to get after retirement.

To each his own. I’m a very active person physically. I need to be doing some type of activity whether volunteering or working. I can’t just sit around all day.
