I have stayed at Perdido Beach Resort a few times for conventions and it wasn't bad. now, it is certainly not new, but the property has a lot of shite to do and it is right on the beach.

Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival is Oct 13-16. GS & OB are usually packed that weekend like a Holiday weekend. No deals will be found that weekend.

Savor fresh from the gulf seafood at the 45th Annual National Shrimp Festival during this four-day event that attracts over 300,000 people. This year the festival will play host to more than 80 hours of musical entertainment featuring a lineup of national, regional and local acts. There will be musical acts to please all palates, including Blues, Motown, Southern Rock, Jazz, Zydeco and Country.

FYI the first 2 weeks in October are fall break for Tennessee and Kentucky, Destin gets to almost literally 100% capacity. It's spring break numbers. If you truly want a good deal go the 3rd week in October and wait until October to book, people will be glad to take that for that 3rd week.

Avoid the last week in September and first 2 in October for killer deals.

Sea Oats Motel in Destin. Your room opens up to the beach a few steps away from the sand. Heated Pool on the beach.
No high-rise hotels around so never crowded.
Very nice room but small with full kitchen. If you like to stay in the room you might not like it as much as a condo but if you go to the beach to go to the beach you'll really like it.

Going beginning of October

If you can hold off until the 2nd weekend of October, most places start their discount season. You will be able to stay somewhere very nice for a week on that budget.

That's less than what we would pay per night

I went recently and the condo was split between a few couples so it wasn't bad, but the nightly rate was somewhere around 600 per night. I was pissed when I found out because I know you can get them much cheaper.

Another vote for Perdido Skye. As long as you are cool with 1 bedroom. I've stayed there and next door at Ocean Breeze East probably 6 times in the past few years.

Perdido Beach Resort

Would probably cost double what he's looking to spend.

OP, Phoenix properties are a good deal. Phoenix 10 is right next to the Flora-Bama if that is something that interest you.

If you find a property you really like, just spend the extra money. Condo beach trips are cheap as it is because you can cook and eat in and most of your entertainment is free (beach and pools).

shores of panama

I've stayed here before and enjoyed it. Right next to pineapple willys in PCB. It could possibly be done at the upper end of your budget. Best bet would be to find another couple to split something with you and you would easily be under budget.

Go to Gulfport and Biloxi, take a ferry out to ship island, beautiful beach. I'm talking pristine beach with clear water. The food there is way better as well. And will cost you a fraction of the trip you are planning.
