I live on a golf course. I bought the house when it was on the course, so I assumed the risk of getting a ball here and there, no big deal. While I was cutting my grass this morning, I notice a huge chunk taken out of my aluminum fence and a bunch of bent spindles. It is obvious whoever was cutting the courses grass ran into my fence causing the damage. I called the course and asked to speak with the manager to remedy, but he is out until Monday. I never assumed people would run into my fence when I bought the place. The course is responsible to fix this, right?

Show up Monday and knuckle check the pro to make sure this grievous slight against your honor is remedied.

Can you prove the mower caused the damage?

Call up and ask to speak to Carl Spackler. That is code for the fence fixing guy. He does not really use spackle. That is just a name.

Yes- the point of impact is too low for a golf cart. It matches up perfectly with the low height of their zero turn mowers. Plus, they always cut it about a inch away from my fence- something I appreciated until this

I think you're going to have a hard time getting it fixed. Most homes that back up to a golf course..your property line extends about 2 ft beyond your fence line.

You can bitch and bitch, but it will be up to management or ownership of the club. You may have to bitch for awhile to see any results.

I would try and be super nice to the manager and ask him to come down and confirm your suspicion that it was a mower. He can easily tell you to frick off and blame it on a patron in a cart. If it were indeed a cart, the driver would be responsible, but at this point that guy would be long gone.

If some golfer hits it good luck. If the club employee hits it while cutting I believe you could discuss with them and a reasonable course would take care of the damage.

Can't fix the past, but definitely get some cameras on your property. They are cheap now. You may also be able to ask your neighbors if they have any, and maybe they have the person on video.
