actually he didn't as someone has stated he is more personable which is very important in the psychiatry field.

If Np's are so smart why didn't they go to med school.

Hmmmmmm

You either are an MD or you are not.

if you are a nurse practitioner, not the ones working at a walk in clinic, you can make more money than many doctors do. Get into a private office, work hard, and become well liked. If you do that 200k+ is definitely possible.

NP's can most of the time make more money doing locum assignments. Basically working as contractors. Being paid hourly and malpractice and travel (if needed) covered.

I may be incorrect but 100K is probably on the low end of what NPs can make.

We're in Charlotte, and the NP's she's been following for her clinicals are making 75k-85k. For some reason this seems to be a shitty market for nurses and possibly NP's. It's pretty tough just to get a job as an RN here. Forget about six figures, a lot are making 45k-50k (I'm talking RN's here).

She may have an offer with a physician in a specialty where she would get a base salary plus a bonus dependent on the number of patients she sees. I'm curious to see what the offer is going to be.

No love for PAs?

I thought that they were higher than NPs, but I guess not.

Most states give them no prescriptive authority

If she were to do a locum assignment in NC she would make an average of $55/hr. Multiply that by 2080 and her salary would be $114,400 before taxes. The only problem is not many places are so willing to accept new grads. It really sucks for some NP's.

You do know that Medicare pays nps 85% of md rates of they are billing as the sole provider?

So this "make more than many doctors do" is dubious.

This is patently false.

revenue is only one side of the equation. what about a doctor's expenses compared to that of a NP. you think it's less than 15%?

if I make 150k a year and spend $149,999 I only made a dollar.

You're a dumbass.

Paralegals can't give legal advice.

NPs CAN and DO give medical advice and most are good at what they do.

I spent many years in big pharma calling on physicians and nurse practitioners. 9 times out of 10, I would rather go to an NP than a primary care doc. They tend to be much more up to speed on issues, and much less caught up in ego.

I had issues with my ear and headaches that specialists couldn't figure out. Told me I was lying and nothing was wrong with me, and I hate going to the doctor.

NP felt around my upper jaw, told me to open my mouth and my jaw popped in pain and I almost punched the guy on instinct. Told me to go to a special dentist that specializes in jaw issues. I had been clinching my teeth for years and it was somehow applying pressure on my temporal nerve which is why I had the headaches all the time and felt like i had ear infections.

2 doctors, 2 ENTs and a dentist couldn't help me,but the nurse practitioner figured it out immediately.
I'd by that guy a beer anytime for the rest of my life for helping me.

Nurses do 99% of the work of delivering our babies safely so they are good in my book.
