he's not on salary. as an NP you have to have a psych doctor over you legally. His psych doctor gets a percentage of what he makes and only sees a small number of patients himself

we can go round and round on what you think he makes. My point is if you take the right avenues an NP income can be as much as you want it to be.

Has nothing to do with it, but whatever. Patients are ruining healthcare.

A paralegal can easily have an associate's degree. A NP has at least a MS. So yeah, I see your point since they're basically the same.

I routinely get destroyed for this opinion, but will go down swinging to defend it. American patients specifically.

NP's are jealous of doctors, for the most part.

A good buddy of mine is a NP and his is one of the smartest guys I know. Worked as an ER Nurse and as a Paramedic for 20 years before he went back to school for his NP.

I would trust him anything medical related knowing a) he is qualified and b) he would send me to a specialized doctor if needed.

I go the CVS Minuiteclinic for routine illnesses and wellness screenings for work. They are run by NPs. I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. Health insurance covers almost 100% and they always make f/u calls to see how things are going. Apparently, most people haven't caught on to it yet, because I walk in and never have to wait.

My stepdad is a NP and specified in psychiatry. He is liked by more patients than most of the actual psychiatrist that he works with.

I wouldn't. The way you have to get into medical school is so full of fake hurdles, only someone vain enough to chase the status of being Medical MD would go through all the headache.

An intelligent person can pick another field that has good income potential without all the barriers of entry. So a person willing to go through all of it is just self-absorbed status whore.

But NPs are an even further departure from that. Basically they are nurses who held on long enough to slap NP on the end of their name (and maybe had to study late for a few tests, wow, that sounds incredibly arduous). Sorry, I've known too many nurses before they were nurses to even attempt to have a high opinion of that field.

You couldnt be anymore ill informed and full of shite. That was probably what you were diagnosed with and unfortubately there is no cure for being a dumbass.

Could you elaborate on this? My SO is about to graduate as an NP, and I didn't realize this level of pay was possible. I'm genuinely interested.

Just don't go to them then. If you get stuck with one just sit there and pretend to listen until you can see an actual dr.

That's what I do with most nurses I encounter who think they know everything.

Sounds like you found out the hard way not all male nurses are gay.

Private practice, some states NPs can work completely independent without physician oversight.

It's more like male fashion models, it's more about body dysmorphia than being naturally ripped. At least with Caucasians.

She tells you this, doesn't she? NP's have a bit of penis envy and are eager to exaggerate and magnify the few times they may have done a better job. It's amazing how much people don't know what they don't know.

So you know every NP and how the think?
