For minor things, I'd much rather go to a NP. Go to a doc in the box with something like a sinus infection. You'll be lucky if the self absorbed jerk spends more than 1 minute with you. BTW, the future is NPs working in the local retail pharmacy. The NP diagnosis it, Pharmacist fills it, DONE!

why go to school another 2-4 years, put yourself more in debt to become a doctor when you can get a masters as NP, make about the same amount of money (if you contract yourself out) with wayyyy less insurance needed.

My wife is a NP and runs circles around most doctors. Amazing how many doctors are stuck on old ways and not up to date with current medicines and preventative measures. The doctors are the ones who are quick to write a script versus the NP.
Pat yourself on the back for showing your ignorance. Now go back to your Home Depot job and jump on that forklift son.

Just don't go to them then. If you get stuck with one just sit there and pretend to listen until you can see an actual dr.
That's what I do with most nurses I encounter who think they know everything.

My brother's ex-wife is a NP and she's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

This dude probably thinks an anesthesiologist puts him to sleep when he has surgery.

Obviously, then that means all NPs are dumb.

Dumbest post I've ever seen on the O-T and that's saying a lot.

It sucks you got a bad NP, but often times the NPs that have had lengthy RN experience could run circles around some doctors.
True.
My brother is an FNP with 18 years in a busy ER, just a good ole coonass who is smart and likes to drink beer. I'd trust before some new hot shot Dr. with no experience.

"no he doesn't"
yes he does. he's got a masters in geri and psych. he rounds under a psych doctor at nursing homes and inpatient hospitals with his own clinic on the side. Those places will pay stipends usually between 2k to 10k a month just to have someone round there. he then bills Medicare/Medicaid on top of that.

She tells you this, doesn't she? NP's have a bit of penis envy and are eager to exaggerate and magnify the few times they may have done a better job. It's amazing how much people don't know what they don't know.

Even if they paid 10k a month and he was salaried at 90k and billed for 200k he'd be short.

I agree that most doctors are basically drug dispensers more than people who really care about the patient and who try to identify the root cause of an issue. Some, I assume, are good people.

I disagree. I see two in my physicians office and they both seem very knowledgeable.

I'm sure you're at the highest level of your profession too.
