, but the families of these officers will be compensated. Last i checked the amount will be upwards of 1 million dollars for each.
That's good to know but where are you seeing this?

Insurance for being killed in the line of duty would be the only thing I could think of.

Thanks for the BR Area Foundation Link. I personally feel it's awkward that people that people are choosing to donate to one (or more) but not all the officers. Crowdfunding wise, I'd rather see the money pooled and given out based on number of dependents.

I hope these families can get the financial support they need. I hate taxes but would gladly pay extra tax for death benefits for officers and the military.

This is what we did. And I donated to the general fund.

I will probably be donating more to Tullier in the future. I'm sure his family is going to need all the help they can get.

Are all of these validated? I'd love to donate but don't want to be caught giving to scammers either.

Contact the Public Affairs office for each respective department. They can send you to the right place.

Agreed.

We generally try to keep the left hand from knowing what the right is doing, but if these threads spur others to assist, then we will be public about it.

Every time I see that picture of Montrell Jackson holding his baby boy while in uniform it just makes me so very sad.

It's heartbreaking Nursie. That picture says a thousand words and then to read his post from just a few days before he died is just devastating. What a good man he was.

I cry for his baby who will never know him. Dammit there are enough fatherless in the black community and the good man can be scarce and then an a-hole kills Montrell as a strike against whitey or the police and in reality it is a future black man (that baby)and a black who he did the most damage too.

Seriously I am just

I did as well. Luckily my Mama left me money when she died last month so I was able to give a heartfelt contribution to each.

I have been in their shoes. I have been the woman who has gotten that terrible call when my fiance died. I lived those dark days. To this day, almost 10 years later, you guys know how much my heart still grieves for the man I lost. (even though I am remarried).

I only wish I could donate part of my heart to take on some of the heartache they much be feeling. I wish I could take away their pain and hop in a time machine and undo this all.

Sorry such a long post. My heart is just overwhelmed.
