GMC Dealers, ?Today we are announcing some details surrounding the model year 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. For model year 2022, we will begin production in September 2021, of the GMC Sierra 1500 Limited. The Sierra Limited model will be a shortened model year and will be a continuation of the current generation product that will carry over a full range of trims, models, premium features and comforts GMC customers have come to expect. Full packaging, features and content details will be coming in mid-July for the 2022 Sierra 1500 Limited.
What a shite show, they’re so far behind Ford, Ram and now Toyota.

It’s an issue across the industry. Covid and chinese tariff was caused chip and part shortage

Can you elaborate? Behind how? Whats the big deal?

Why would they care about changing anything when they can’t keep a truck on the lot?

Specifically interior quality and tech, which was the whole point of the mid-cycle refresh. Looks like Toyota will have their new Tundra out in 2022 MY while GM is looking at 2023 for a refresh of the model that came out in 2019. Ford just pushed out the new F150 in 2021.

behind Toyota? Toyota finally updated the interior dash after 10 years?

The Sierra is a decent looking truck. But the Silverado has got to be the ugliest full size truck in the past decade. The headlights look ridiculous and the cab spoiler looks way out of place.

My 2020 Tundra was my most timely vehicle purchase to date.
One month before pandemic. 8 months before chip shortage. Before free money and escalating inflation.
And right before they refreshed the Tundra line, which I’m not sure I care for.

Sierra AT4 is one of the best looking trucks on the road complemented by an interior that’s outdated by a decade.

chinese tariff
There aren't tariffs on the semiconductors used in automobiles. If that was the problem, automakers would gladly pay for it rather than have thousands of Silverados and F-150s sitting unfinished at the factory.
Carmakers over reacted to Covid and canceled orders for their semiconductors. Tech companies like Apple and Google ordered more.
When it became apparent that the world wasn't ending, automakers like GM, Ford, VW, and Toyota were placing new orders from factories already producing chips for consumer electronics.
The carmakers are now sourcing chips from smaller 2nd and 3rd tier manufacturers. But it's apparent that they need to insource production of some of this.

You’re right. I have a 7 year old Ram 1500 Limited. The interior of it looks better than the interior of the new AT4.

They are very good trucks. But their interiors look out of place on the higher trim models. I think that's what they were trying to do for the 2022 refresh.
Glad I bought my Toyota when I did. My local dealer has an empty lot now.

GMC has the best looking truck right now imo, and I'm not a truck guy.

Pretty much goes for any GM product. Looks cheap and bubbly.

I feel like the people who care about stuff like this are the same people in the other thread bragging about their 72 month loans at 0%.
“It was 0%. Free money.”
Yea, but you just paid $70,000 for a vehicle bro.
