GM exec crashes Indy pace car ZR1 Corvette in what he blames were "Perfect Conditions"

Autoguide GM Exec Mark Reuss driving in very dangerous ZR1 Corvette conditions
GM tried to blame the mistake on the weather and track conditions – both of which were ideal for racing or track driving.
“It is unfortunate that this incident happened,” GM said in a statement. “Many factors contributed, including weather and track conditions. The car’s safety systems performed as expected.”
He was forced to drive on the roadway as the pace car in blue bird skies, no rain, and 85 degree temps--which are known recipes for disaster when driving a Corvette.

Sure would be nice if you could hear the ZR1's exhaust. Doesn't look like he was trying to do anything heroic with it, but without hearing the throttle, it's tough to tell..

It appears as though Reuss just got on the power a bit too early as the ZR1 went over a small crest in the bumpy Belle Isle GP track, causing the rear to get light. That’s probably a rather easy mistake to make in the ridiculously powerful ZR1, though, which makes an absurd 755 hp from its 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
Oddly, GM tried to blame the mistake on the weather and track conditions – both of which were ideal for racing or track driving.
Sounds like they were covering for GM Exec who made a driving faux pas..

...which is stupid, because with obviously suitable conditions, it places the blame on the car. Clearly the driver’s fault.

GM exec thought he was leaving cars and coffee.

That GM exec sounds like the type of guy who would cut a back flip at a wedding reception, drop his pistol and then fire a round when he picked it up off the dance floor by the trigger.

My buddy was a repo-man for GMAC...back in '99, he repo'd a brand new ZR1 and decided not to turn it in for a wkend.
GMAC sent him a text-page saying, "Dude, where's my car?"
We didn't wreck it like this dill hole.

He just needs to admit he can't drive that type of car.

Video looks like he stayed on the throttle even after the spin started...I detect no brake lights. Just hit the corner too hard and never corrected...

Was this dude one of the affirmative action types brought in after GM was turned over to ....how to put this....people who were neither stock holders nor competant?

I bet he was on his cell phone and said "watch this" before he hit the gas pedal.
