Facebook marketplace and he’ll probably make at least $300 off of it all. Good for him.
Like if that’s your thing good for you and all, but he had to ride around and pick all that stuff up, then buy all the parts, then spend time fixing it all, then he has to have the type of people looking to buy a used repaired dryer off marketplace over to his house and haggle with them.
Even if he sells it all for 300 bucks, he’s barely making any profit and spending a ton of his time. The people he is trying to mock got their old item hauled off for free and have moved on.

That is interesting. Most now are DD universal motors. There are some belt drive extractors with high static pressure using induction motors. What brand was it?

I’ve got enough projects in my shop waiting for me to get started on. Why do I need somebody else’s broke stuff to add to the list?

Congrats on being poor

I’ve got a dishwasher you can pick up if you need to flip it for some menthols, mean sixteens, and scratch-offs

Some of us have the money to not GAF and buy new.
I think older is typically built to last more than newer things, especially when it comes to items with a mower. I respect the hustle.
Hell, I’m poor…I wish I was better at being handy and fixing up those things. I have a vacuum cleaner on the fritz as it is. Debating whether it’s time to pull the plug, pun intended.

FWIW I put that shite out hoping guys like you will pick it up.
Thought you’d be more appreciative though, eh well.

Will you come to Metairie and buy a nearly new/barely used electric range?
Pulled it out of my aunt's former house before the bulldozer came.
Might be 3 years old but she abandoned her non-working A/C house and moved to Lafayette with her daughter over a year ago.

I got a couch off the curb in the late 90s
I left a bong water soaked pullout sofa on the curb on the street that backed up Foxy's in the early 00s and it was gone within 12 hours.

I have a 1992 craftsman I got for free. $25 bucks for a new carb and it runs like a dream. 6 speed transmission with a clutch, no hydrostatic b.s. It's the exact same model I rode when I was a teenager so I am a bit sentimental about it.
Newer riding mowers piss me off. My last one wouldn't let you reverse while the blades were engaged along with a buch of other ridiculous "safety" features....freaking stupid. The old one does a better job in less time with half the horsepower

Just grabbed 2 chainsaws off the curb. Ordered carbs off Amazon $20 each. Fixed 20” and 18” bars. One had a brand new chain in a box with it. Huge big arse shop van. Broken belt. $15. Fixed. Mowers. $20 carb. Fixed. Blowers. $20 carb. Fixed. Weedeaters. Yup. You guessed it $20 carb. Fixed. Dryer. Broken element. $50 fixed. Washing machine. Broken pump. $30. Fixed.
Even poor people need hobbies

I get great enjoyment out of leaving half-broken or non-functioning household items on the curb and timing how long they last. On the off chance the items make it to the next day when the garbage men pass, i feel bad for owning something so shitty that the scavengers didn’t even want it.

Bless your heart. And thanks for getting that crap out of the yard.
I like it when I can save a trip to the dump.

Wife use to pick up potted plants at the curb. all they needed was water.
If I put something at the curb it's usually before Saturday so the junk collectors can get it. A push lawn mower is going to my curb after tomorrow. I'm tired of repairing it and it hasn't run properly since I hit the stump of a yew. It died today.

Thanks stupid/lazy people!
While I'm happy for you, their time is worth more than what it took for you to fix those things. Call it a win-win.

Wife and I picked a few things in our neighborhood curb alerts and did well. That developed into actually making a few runs here and there the day before garbage pickup. I’ve had a few clunkers that get tossed out in our garbage, but we made $2200 in one years time. Nobody is going to believe it, but it’s true. Last sale was a mower that my neighbor threw out that ran really fast. Slight throttle adjustment and I sold it on marketplace for $175. Took maybe 5-10 min to fix.

I feel a competition brewing between OP & AntiqueTiger.
2 junk-men men enter
1 junk/man leaves as supreme leader of curb-wars

I assume you're selling all of this

I'm putting 2 pretty nice end tables on the curb soon. Carbs are ok.

Was lucky enough to have people teach me how important ethanol free gas is for engines that use a carb.
