Given the option would you climb Mt Everest?

If you had the trip paid for and everything would you do it? Or maybe just go up to the base camp? Lots of normal folk seem to be doing it. A lot of dead bodies up there too. I would though, certainly a memory for life type of thing.

The cold and lack of oxygen would be a problem for me.

Absolutely, but you have to pay for the top expeditions. The majority of the people that die did it on the cheap without proper support.

Absolutely not.

The result would be me dying from unnecessary causes.

I would for sure take an all expenses paid trip to basecamp.

Summiting? Depends how long I have to prepare.

Sure, as long as knee surgery is paid for. I have a torn meniscus that would need to be taken care of first.

Yea I’d absolutely do it. Tried to get a group together to climb Mt. Fuji when I was in Okinawa but they were pussies.

I was watching a show about searching for the Yeti earlier tonight and one of the guys got really sick. I started thinking about the same thing. Not sure what I would do.

Try to climb it, no.

Go to base camp, probably not.

To try to climb it is going to involve weeks or months of training to some extent even if a sherpa is mostly going to drag me up the mountain. Even then, the odds are maybe 50/50.

I'm going to look at the opportunity cost and just say no. If I take a month or two off of work (even if the Everest trip is paid for), I can think of a lot of other things I would rather be doing than suffering on the other side of the world to climb a large rock.

I live at sea level. That would be a rough adjustment.

Plus it's dangerous and uncomfortable.

It usually takes 1-2 months of partial climbs and descents to get acclimated even for seasoned climbers.

By the time they summit they have hiked enough to have climbed all of Everest several times over.

No, even with the best outfitters, and being in peak physical condition, the weather is too unpredictable, it suddenly changes you die.
