I have always associated liberals to Subaru’s...

The lesbian thing is real
“Subaru’s marketing strategy had just died in a fit of irony.
It was the mid 1990s, and sales of Subaru cars were in decline. To reverse the company’s fortunes, Subaru of America had created its first luxury car—even though the small automaker was known for plain but dependable cars—and hired a trendy advertising agency to introduce it to the public.
The new approach had fallen flat when the ad men took irony too far: One ad touted the new sports car’s top speed of 140 MPH, then asked, “How important is that, with extended urban gridlock, gas at $1.38 a gallon and highways full of patrolmen?"

Fun outdoorsy car. I can’t drive a manual tho
Now is a chance to learn.
Buy a piece of shite nissan stick shift pickup and grind and burn until you're comfortable.

Unless I want a manual (I don’t cuz traffic) I’m going wrx. Also the price diff between Sti and wrx is pretty steep
I think you'd be happier with a wagon or some kind of crossover in the long run.

Subaru makes good vehicles that hold value. Also should be a pretty safe one particularly in crappy weather climates
If you like it go for it.
If you like it go for it.

This may be caused by me recently traveling to Tahoe and feeling very outdoorsy.
Here is your first bumper sticker for the new car

If you're in the south this may be more relevant.
But in the west, everyone drives a Subaru.
I drive a Honda Element, but when I decide to buy another vehicle it will be a Subaru.

Up in the Rocky mountains, Suburu's outlast all the all-terrain makes.

Almost 10,000 miles on a new Ascent after spending many days and hours looking for a new vehicle. My wife and I do not fit the stereotype (on this board) of Subaru owners. If you like it....go for it.

Around 1996 I was selling Subaru # 3 and was living in NJ. A man came to look at it, bought it on the spot and said he was going to be driving it out to his son who lived in Denver. He said the son had been looking for a decent used Subaru but they sell so quickly out there he was having a hard time buying one.

I don’t mind a Subaru. I’m not sure I like that particular model. Are you Asian by any chance? Did you like those shitty Paul Walker movies?

After owning an Outback, I owned a 1st gen WRX wagon with a stick for well over a decade. Very fun to drive in the mountains but horrific gas mileage if you stay on the boost all the time (to avoid the low torque at low revs and the lag). I took it up to Tahoe for snowboarding many times. Fun to drive in the snow and it's great to just drive by the chain control along I-80 or Hwy 50 without stopping.
If you put enough miles on it (>150K), eventually you'll have to get the head gaskets replaced, and it's a big job because the flat engine layout makes it hard to get to the heads, so high-mileage maintenance will cost more than a typical inline 4 engine. Just something to be aware of.
The recent WRXs are reasonably close in HP to the WTI, so it's not worth the price differential for every day street use. The Engineering Explained guy talks a bit about it here:

My wife had a Forester for a while before trading it in on a Highlander. The service centers tend to take FOREVER even for minor appointments like an oil change. This was our only real complaint.

Could always tell the Subie customers when they walked in the showroom from the granola bars hanging out of their pockets.
