An ex and I shared locations. Here's how it went.
Her: Did you do anything after work today?
Me: Nope
Her: Really? You didn't go anywhere after you left work?
Me: Yep that's right.
Her: So you didn't stop anywhere? You went straight home?
Me: Yep, that's right. ...(now remembering) Ohhh...I stopped at Racetrac and got gas.
Her: So then you were lying when you first said you didn't do anything after you left work? Because I saw your location.
Me: No, it was just something insignificant and I just didn't remember doing it.
Her: Then what you first told me wasn't the truth because you didn't go straight home. That makes it a lie. You lied to me.
Me: I wasn't trying to deceive you. I simply didn't recall doing something as trivial as getting gas.
Her: So when I ask you something you don't think about your answer and if it is a truth or a lie?
... and further chaos ensued
I'll never let this happen to me again.

Or to make sure she get Jody out the back door before you get home

My wife shares hers, I don't share mine.
ETA:
And I have never once looked at her location

Yes you should do this, then:
- get a cheap disposable that takes SIM
- open a new account
- put old SIM in trash phone
- put trash phone in random pickup truck bed down in Laredo
3 days later, surprise her getting out of shower.
Just think of the memories.
(the alternative is worse)

Oh yeah, the problem was definitely that you shared your location, not that you played hide the sausage with a certified psycho.

She claims she wants it for safety reasons, like if I were to get kidnapped or something.
Yeh, because...
1. People are constantly being kidnapped. Unless you're involved in questionable activities, kidnapping is probably about as likely as getting hit by lightning.
2. Does she really believe that people involved in kidnapping activities won't immediately either get rid of the phone or turn the location tracking off?
This is a huge big red hi intensity LED blinking flag. She doesn't trust you now and she won't in the future. You have a choice: Accept her rules and live with it forever, or NIP IT IN THE BUD!

Prime opportunity to really frick with her. I would have fun with this.

Be careful or she may just hide an Apple AirTag someplace in your vehicle.

I did this because she constantly gets lost driving around and calls me needing directions. Much easier to just look on the app where she is than try to figure it out based on her bad descriptions
Same here. My wife has the directional sense of a blind man. So she has her location shared with me.
I am not directionally challenged so I don’t have my location shared with her.
And she’s never asked that I turn it on.

If you allow your wife to track you I'm sure you dont have a problem with Jody coming and going as he pleases.

Hard no. Everyone in the family is on Life360 but me. I don't lie to my wife, but have no need for her to see I am making another liquor run or have left work at 3pm to chill on the porch with my dog.
