re: Moving Out of NOLA

Providing an update as I want to make sure I thank all of you for your feedback and help.

I ended up getting a U-Haul and taking Highway 90 to New Orleans and I am just finishing getting things out of my apartment. On my way I saw the devastation through Houma and the surrounding area. It was extremely humbling. My landlord is a real piece of work, and this whole process of moving out in the days following Ida have been very stressful, however, at the end of the day I am heading back to Lafayette to a roof over my head. I know that is not the case for a lot of the individuals whose homes I passed on my trip this afternoon.

Y’all pray for those who are truly affected and are at the beginning of a very long way to recovery. Help in anyway that you are able. My landlord may be a jerk but I know that he does not reflect how great the larger population of our state can be when we come together. A lot of our neighbors will need help in the coming days weeks and months.

Heading back to Lafayette now on I 10. Again, appreciate everybody’s help.

I think so as well, I asked the U-Haul employee and they said that it has a 40 gallon tank and gets about 10 miles to the gallon. Should be plenty for the trip.

I considered this but my concern is any impact it could have on future lease agreements.

Also, there was somebody scheduled to move in tomorrow. Obviously they won’t be residing in the residence but I believe they still want to move their belongings into the unit. I don’t want to screw that guy over or inconvenience him. Especially given that he will be inconvenienced many a times over the next year by my miserable landlord.

Moving Out of NOLA

Asking for some help/ advice. I was scheduled to move out of my apartment in the LGD today, August 31st, because my lease ends at the end of month. I was going to stay with a family member until I could find a permanent living situation. This was all planned well before the hurricane and I was going to keep my stuff in a storage unit on Tchoup. The movers are now understandably not available to assist with the move out and the storage facility does not have power/ staff so I cannot access my unit. I had been working with my landlord since before Ida on a revised move-out plan since the impact of the hurricane was unknown. He is now demanding that I have my stuff out by today.

I am currently in Lafayette where I evacuated to and will be renting a U-Haul to drive into the city and load it up to move to a storage facility back in Lafayette. Few questions:
- Are there any issues getting down Highway 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans?
- Will I even be allowed into the city to get my stuff?
- Is there anything I should be aware of before getting too far into my trip that could impact my ability to move?

Thanks in advance for your help.
I evacuated from NOLA to Lafayette for the storm but will be heading back this morning if the roads are clear. Plan to stop at Costco on my way out for water and non-perishables. If you are in Greater New Orleans or the surrounding areas and need food/ water please let me know.

Boat Wash In St Bernard Parish

Posted by Skinner on 7/5/21 at 9:20 am
Is there a self service car/ boat wash on LA 46 in the St. Bernard/ Shell Beach area? Looking for something with plenty of clearance (>12ft) so I can pull a trailered Everglades 243CC through for washing. Recently moved my boat to a storage unit in St Bernard and am not very familiar with the area.

In my experience, Puerto Los Cabos is one of the most scenic and challenging courses I've played in the Cabo area. Added bonus that your green fee covers food and drink at the little casitas they have every 3 holes. So if your round is crap a drink is never far away

Pamillia is also an excellent course. 3-nine hole courses (Mountain, Ocean, and Arroyo). I just got back from a trip there and played Pamillia twice. Unfortunately, the Ocean course is under repair but the Mountain & Arroyo combo make for a great 18.

Cabo del Sol was mentioned earlier and I agree, its an excellent course by any measure, but I prefer Puerto Los Cabos and Pamillia.

Of all the courses I played there, Cabo Real was my least favorite.

Dang this sounds good. May try this out and incorporate some red chili flake for some heat then serve over rice. Kind of like a Chinese sticky rice sort of dish.

Have three plucked (whole bird) and three breasted with skin intact. However, there will *hopefully* be plenty more that find their way to my fridge this season so I can clean them whatever way necessary.

Wild Duck Preparation

Looking for ideas on how to cook some wood ducks from this weekend. I’ve seen videos of 24hr+ sous vide methods that effectively confits the duck, however, they are always using farm raise birds (more fatty; lighter meat). Have any of you tried this out? Happy to hear any other cooking methods that y'all have found successful.

I’ve always made a gravy or duck poppers but want to add some variety to my meals this season.
