Seems like the problem will take care of itself then, doesn't it?

Salvage laws. If that boat was found off U.S. waters, its property of the state.

Laws are strange regarding vessels like this. You can't just go claiming sunken ships and wreckage.

With this ship, it wouldn't even be worth the hassle to salvage it

I like how they used the term "crewed", as if the rats are organized into a working crew with a captain rat, first mate rat, commander rat, crew member rats, etc

Why not just use it as target practice for a navy?

They have to find it first, assuming it hasn't been sunk already.

There is something really eerie about an unmanned ship that no one can find..we need to get M Night Shymalan to write a riveting novel about it

A rat informant. Or as they are sometimes called, a rat-rat.

One well placed live round from any military vessel should take care of the rat infestation

More accurate headline would be "Ship, which may or may not be infested with rats, which may or may not have turned cannibal, may or may not be somewhere in the north Atlantic - possibly near Britain (although probably not)."

Or maybe we could do an Upworthy style headline -- "Unbelievable story of how a group of small furry animals, stranded on an abandoned ship, relied on each other in working towards their dream of immigrating to England - and how you can help."
