I'm very sorry to hear that. You can throw everything I've said out the window when it comes to the death of a child.

Everybody is giving sound advice. The thing about grief is its different for everybody and it doesn't go away. Even if its your parents, grandparents, etc you will always have moments when you miss them etc and that's grief.

OP, the quickest way to make this girl resent you is to tell her to get over it. She might need to learn to deal with it better but not get over it.

You don't ever get over losing someone you love especially if you lose them unexpectedly. You just learn to live without them.

Just think about how long its going to take her to get over you when you break up with her.

High spiritual lessons.

1. Everything changes.
Write on piece of paper.
Hand to her. Read out loud.

2. Deep breathing. Long. Slow.

3. Professional psychologist who does eft. Emotional freedom technique. "Tapping"

My ex-wife used to do that crap. The last time she did it, the dad had been dead about 15 years. I never reacted well.

You mean she left you in spite of your warm and compassionate attitude toward her pain?

What a count.

My Dad is dead. I still get extremely emotional from time to time. You should be kicked in the fricking teeth for even wanting her to move on. Pray you have a daughter that loved you that much you inconsiderate prick. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

My first thought when reading his question was, "how many responses before 'PIIHB' shows up?"

2nd response. OT does not disappoint.

What's it like to be emotionally dead inside? That's something she will deal with for the rest of her life. If you can't handle it, let some guy that can take your place.

You have clearly never lost someone close to you. Just end it because you sound like a douche bag.

Just break up with her. You shouldn't have to go through that. It's not fair to you.
