I hope the Covid thread here lives on forever. It should be preserved in the "Classic Threads" section for all time as a reminder to everyone.

Won't work...genie is out the bottle. The few Covidians will drop to their knees out of fear from their subsidized deity...but the masses are over it.

Pretty sure the latest uptick corresponds with Garth Brooks concert and Jazzfest.
But nothing from Mardi Gras? Guess we were all just socially distancing on the route

My wife won’t leave the country until this changes so I’m stuck vacationing in this shithole til it does.

welcomed change of attitude considering you were one of the first to post boast about getting vaccinated and browbeating others to do the same.
WTF are you talking about? I’ve mentioned here before that I’m vaccinated (without a booster) but I’ve never, ever come here and told others to get vaccinated. You have me confused with another poster.

It IS ticking up a bit. Would be strange if it didn't with the big Garth concert, Jazz Fest, other festivals, spring sporting events, etc.
Family member got it. Good chance I did too, but I didn't take a test so as far as I'm concerned, I'm good to go about my life as normal.

Not really. First "wave" was March 2020, 2nd started in June 2020, 3rd Nov 2020, 4th July 2021, 5th Dec 2021.
So, if this is the beginning of the uptick that will then be called the "6th wave", it's just a little earlier than expected; but it's been kind of expected. The big question is will the "7th wave" start early enough to get mail-in ballots?

Cases should have never mattered after a month into this thing.

Covid is indeed going around but it is mostly people that haven't had it yet

And it seems like people are missing 2-3 days of work when they get it, instead of 2-3 weeks

Great. Here comes sloth eyed JBE to whine like a little bitch.

This is not exactly true- 5 coworkers have had it recently, and at least 3 of those had had it before. And yes the vaccines are not as effective against getting the omicron variants which is why they are blowing up around the world. One thing people should take into consideration however: these variants tend to more contagious but less virulent, but if you do get a nasty case, the monoclonal antibody treatments aren't as effective against omicron variants either and the supply of Paxlovid is still a bit limited. So yes, most will have mild short-lived symptoms, but if you are counting on an easy recovery should you be unlucky enough to hit the COVID lottery, you better hope the Paxlovid is still available.

I sure hope you’re right and that there is mass disobedience to whatever they try.
Gird your loins, boys and girls. Not now, not ever again.

Midterms and a way to distract from rising energy prices while also slowing them down.
