It's not my style, but I can see it being appealing to people.

The APEAL study specifically looks at how much owners like or dislike their vehicles within the first 90 days of ownership by breaking the experience down into 77 attributes across 10 categories. These attributes include things like safety, driving dynamics and visibility. Genesis managed to score in first or second place in 9 of the 10 categories.

It's a pretty slick looking car.

I'm always skeptical of car awards. Feels like they are all paid for by the manufacturers. I'm sure even the Ford Pinto was given reliability awards when it first came out.

But what if Phil Collins drives a Porsche?

Isn’t it a Hyundai?

I didn’t know they actually branched off to their own brand.

Yes, a couple years ago.

Yeah, they pulled an Acura/Lexus/Infiniti.

Nice cars. Still crazy to have Hyundai's at $80,000

They needed to break off. The Hyundai Genesis sedans have been quite good but the market just wouldn't buy a luxury "Hyundai"

Good luck to them! I like seeing manufacturers with long term vision.

Shouldn't be a surprise, Genesis has beat them in the latest initial quality survey too, with a 68 PP100 to Porsche's 79. Top three were all Korean plates in fact.

Yeah put me in that group, esp if it’s $80k.

Guess the branch off worked.

A category made specifically for Porsche owners and their anal retentivness.

The one in the OP starts at 35k, I know that's the advertised starting price but I doubt the options are going to run it up to 80.

When I was car shopping I couldn't stop sitting in the Genesis in the showroom. They are beautiful. The guy let me test drive the top of the line one while they were working on paperwork. It basically drives itself on the highway and is fast and comfortable as hell. I love that car.

Unfortunately I am not OT rich and had to settle on a Sonata.

I think there are models and options that go well over 100k.

They're very nice looking cars.

G70 starts at $35k

G80 Sport starts at $55k

G90 starts at $68k

Genesis was the Hyundai performance coupe and sedan. They also had Equus, which was the luxury line. Over the past few years they phased out the Equus name and put their performance and luxury vehicles under the Genesis badge.

Not that I can find. The G90 bumps up against $80k, but that's about as high as it gets.

Good looking cars, I just don't like the look-alike Bentley logo.

Looks that way. Apparently the price came down when they spun off the genesis as its own line.
