GEICO Insurance, and general auto insurance complaints

Wife (no pics) and I have two cars, no kids driving. Insurance cost has gone up 40% in last two years - with about 39% of that cost in the liability and uninsured motorist areas (FU, state legislature, for not fixing these problems).
Current provider is Safeco.
Ran a quote with Geico, coverage is almost $200/month less. Anyone have any problems with GEICO? We have never had insurance purchased direct before, always used an independent agent. But I'm tired of using an agent when they can't find me any better options.
Also, another complaint: about a year ago, my wife was rear-ended by a teenager on their smartphone. Other driver had insurance and car was fixed. I ran the quote not reporting the accident, and I ran it a second time reporting it as an accident not at her fault. Reporting the accident not at her fault caused the premium to be about $100 more for 6 months than not reporting the accident at all.
How in TF is it ok to punish people for getting in an accident that is not their fault?

Had for years, no issues. I periodically check rates with others and no one beats Geico's prices, at least for me.

We've had Geico for years and they've been fine. My wife has had a few claims and no issues.

I switched to GEICO from Liberty Mutual maybe 5 years ago and have not looked back. I even purchased a house since then and looked into bundling, and no one comes close to GEICO rates.

nothing but positive reviews from me. totaled my truck a long time ago. Geico had a check in my hand in a week.
Have had several windshield repairs and replacements. No problems at all.

I have Geico and my insurance has gone up about 40% as well with no claims. You can thank all the slimy billboard attorneys and State legislators for that.

She should have been paying attention in the rearview and juked.

I've had geico for about 12 years now, no issues whatsoever. They were easy to work with and very helpful through both wrecks my wife was in, neither her fault, and i check around every so often and they are always cheaper than the rest, at least for me.

Why no Gordon?

I know a guy who got hit by someone insured by Geico. The officer at the scene called them and confirmed the other driver had insurance with them. Comes time to file a claim, and Geico denies coverage with no explanation. So now it goes to court because it's the only way to get Geico's attention. Everybody hates trial lawyers, but there's a reason they're so prominent...

You'd think after being rear ended last year that he would be able to afford the higher premiums now.

Agreed. I Love GEICO
Had an old 2003 GMC break an axle. Vehicle had nearly 300K miles on it. They gave me $9,000 and "totaled" it. I happily ran out of the adjuster's office.

Oh for sure. Insurance companies (even the good ones) damn near require you to get an attorney in order to do anything worth a damn nowadays.

Probably. She sounds like a teacher.

I have Geico and have no complaints..But I have never filed a complaint. I did check around for cheaper rates and found Progressive was lower. Called Geico to cancel and they matched the quote from Progressive. Saved me about $30 a month on same policy. Plus Geico prorated the cost for a month and a half.

GEICO has been great for us. Knock on wood, we've had no wrecks and only minor tickets. The rates have been almost laughably lower than anywhere else.

Cause we aren't trashballs. About $3500 in damage which their insurer covered without issue, gave us a rental, etc. Was at a red light, she was at front of line, kid slams on brakes too late and slides into her.

Switched to Geico last year and save about $500 per year...
luckily I've been driving for 15 years and never had a claim for any carrier... I can't tell you what the claim process is with Geico and I hope I never have to
