I find it hard to believe that people can't draw the line at kids, animals, the elderly and the infirm. I mean, these poor creatures literally can't protect themselves.

No, the vast majority don't.
But sure as hell they won't let a known alcoholic adopt.
Before you come back with you don't believe that gays are more likely to abuse kids (they are).
Ask yourself that if indeed they do in higher numbers, do you agree that children should be kept out of higher chance of abuse homes (like alcoholics) or that you think the rights of Gay people to adopt trumps the rights of adopted children to have minimized risk in their adopted home?
I think you have to answer that first, it makes no sense for you to demand proof when you don't care what the answer is.

Too painless. They need to be slowly hung so those poor kids that now have to live with that for rest of their lives can hopefully know they will suffer as well.

Two dudes who are attracted to dudes, adopting two boys that are of no flesh and blood connection. What could ever go wrong in that situation? It's very logical that this is a disproportionately dangerous situation for the boys. Same applies for girl adoptions in lesbian situations.
