True but it has made for one hell of a YouTube video...almost 20 million views.

New Years Eve, World Star Hip Hop featured it on their site. It was the perfect ending to a horrible person.

This is such a weird response to getting molested and your dad murdering the guy.

anything less than life is a joke ... not calling the dad a hero/murderer, but we have absurd laws on the books for pedophiles and rapists (rapists whose victims are not minors) ... we essentially shrug both off ... you kidnap a kid and molest him/her, life in prison is the minimum, even without the kidnapping charge ... same for rape, though best to call that the maximum, also ...

I believe he was talking about my dad...not the child rapist.

My karate teacher was charged with aggrivated kidnapping and was facing life...which he would have gotten.

oh, ok ... didn't read carefully ...

you think he would've gotten life without the kidnapping charge? ... i don't think so ... quick glance on the net sees 10-20 year sentences for the non-kidnapping charges ... i assume there's parole in there for most ...

It has been almost 40 years dummy. Is he supposed to be super weird and somber about it 100% of the time the rest of his life? Christ

Does the Slinkey's toilet picture count?

The answer is no. But I have known him since I was 5 or 6 years old.

Life was a possibility, not a certainty. Nearly 90% of criminal cases are pled down. There is a reasonable chance the predator would be out by now. And once a predator, always a predator.

He has had a lot of time and a lot of therapy to learn how to deal with things.

Be thankful it’s something you’ll never have to deal with.

I'm not going to apologize because over the years some real cool things have happened based on this horrible time in my life.

Do I think it is cool that it was mentioned in the book Friday Night Lights? Yes.

Do I think it's cool the clip was shown in Bowling for Columbine? Yes.

Do I think it's cool after my 1st appearance on Geraldo in 1991 a child in the Baton Rouge community, who was being molested by his Pastor came forward after seeing me on the show? Yes.

What you see as attention...I see as awareness.

Plus...I didn't start this thread.

I wouldn’t call him an “American Hero,” but he is certainly not a muderer. Any man who has children can definitely relate to Plauche. I couldn’t imagine what was going through his head when he found out what Doucet did to his kid. How would any of us react to that?

I was in high school at the time.

You do you, man.

Life is all bonus at this point. Particularly after going through something as horrendous as that.

Good luck to you.

What about when he got out of prison? Plauche protected future victims.

Doucet wasn't going to get out of prison. He raped the kid repeatedly, then kidnapped him and raped him some more. He was never getting out of jail.

He was charged with the kidnapping. If somehow he beat that rap, which would be a pretty good trick as he was captured in a CA hotel room with the boy, the state could have come back and charged him with the sex crimes. At that time in LA, Aggravated Rape could get you the death penalty (I think it may "only" be a life sentence now).

Jeff Doucet didn't get as bad as he deserved and I can't blame Gary Plauche for doing what he did, but no "future victims" were spared.

I don't think so...people have a vision in their mind how someone who went through that should act. And usually it's wrong.

The 1st time I posted on TD I freaked a bunch of posters out because of my honesty and the fact that I can make jokes about it.

It's all good.

You don't know that. Just look at the recent commutations by our governor. Look, a murderer paroled LINK

Aggravated rapists as well.

Wow, more 1st and 2nd degree murderers from Nola .com LINK

I assume Doucet was initially charged with the kidnapping because it was pretty clear cut case, would be easier to prove and would spare a ten year old from testifying in great detail about the entire ordeal. Life is life.

Repeatedly raping a ten year old in LA? That doesn't get you a 10 or 15 year sentence. My guess is they would have charged him with Aggravated Rape, which could have gotten him the electric chair back then.

I always thought it was pretty cool of you to answer questions so candidly.

It was certainly something most all of us growing up at the time wondered “what if it were me?” “what if it were my son?”
