I'm pretty sure for every 2 good days served you get credit for a day. If you are a trustee you get 1 for 1.

You can also get time back for passing courses, teaching.

That was 20 years ago.

The same family who was letting him live on the streets.

It’s like Alton Sterling’s family. Before he fricked around/found out, it was like they’d never heard of him.

Nothing to see here, folks. We have cameras everywhere, but we don't really need to see the footage, because of our very thorough eyewitnesses.

Jackson had decades earlier been charged with purse snatching and simple burglary offenses, demonstrating what Fuller described as a “propensity” to commit similar crimes, like robbery.

Ward's story is that he was passed out near the entrance of the Pontchartrain Hotel, and he wakes up to a man leaning over him, and going through his pockets. Never mind he was robbed at knife point and sent to the hospital only months before. That could arguably make someone jumpy.

Sorry, but this story stinks. I'm not saying Ward is innocent, but it seems like there's a little more to it. Plus, I love how the "family" of Jackson is super concerned about their homeless elder now that he has been killed.

Williams continues to impress upon everyone what a dumbfrick he actually is.

Agreed. The circumstances around gathering evidence for this case absolutely stink.

Ward has pretty good grounds for an appeal

hmmm good question, having kids makes this a tougher answer

but if I'm Ward, I'm dead yesterday. By the time he becomes a free man, much of his family will be gone, will be too old to start a family of his own, you'll have to pick up some shite job that's willing to hire an ex con that killed someone, and you'll never have near enough money to retire.

You know the defense could have put these in evidence if it helped their case right?

Are you suggesting he had ineffective assistance of counsel?

The police have never and will never track down every bit of evidence. Once they get what they need they tend to stop. This is where the defense attorney and his/her investigators come in. This is part of the reason in most areas a good homicide defense starts in the 6 figures.

Anyone have access to the Orleans Parish docket system to see what time Ward will be sentenced?

I thought sentencing would have happened this morning.

The defense isn’t always to obtain evidence. Video isn’t usually kept forever and might be lost by the time a defense attorney enters the picture.

If the police don’t get the footage, it is not available for the defense. By the time the defense started to ask around I bet they are deleted automatically.
