I’ll go with payoff odds.

The house can’t control the dice. I decided to play alone one afternoon. Everyone else had left. Had a ball joking with the table crew.

I learned from two “Good ole boys” that shot dice in the alleys in Birmingham, AL, playing for lunch money. Both were Electrical Engineers that worked for Boeing in Seattle. Learned their methods, shooting in Spokane at the Indian Casino.

Hate playing in Las Vegas. Rather play in Reno.

Gains and losses are unrealized until you cash out. It's accounting, not a math equation.

They don’t do math, that’s why they are gamblers

Let me help y’all out. The difference between what you walked in the door with and what you walked out with is all that counts. All those ups and downs you experience while playing do not mean a thing, except for maybe a learning experience, helping you in the future decide when to walk away or what to avoid.

The answer is net value difference of initial value and ending value.

Same as stock appreciation. Stock is bought and is sold sometime later. The sale value is what you are taxed on. Lets say it was sold at +30% but was up at some time +50%. The 50% is an unrealized gain.

I'm a go big or go home type slot player.

If I can get up 2-3k I'm going to bet bigger and bigger. And if it's my night I walk out a big winner.

Oddly enough last night was one of those big win nights. The problem is that I had 15 losing trips in a row prior. I think maybe 3 times out of those 15 losing trips I got up maybe 1k/2k. Ended up walking out a loser on those three nights as well.

Last night I got up 5k, then dwindled down to 700, then hit a $7k jackpot on a freaking measly 12 dollar bet. Shocking I know. Then I hit one more on that same machine for 3k.

Hopped over to those Autumn Moon, Lightning Link style games I never ever play and started betting 25/50 dollars because I was in an advantage position. I had ammunition so I was gonna push it. Shortly after starting my 25/50 dollar spins I hit a 6k jackpot ball bonus. Hopped over to the machine right next to it. 2 dollar denom 50 dollar bet I hit 8k jackpot while they were unlocking the 6k one. Then I had a couple 3k, and 2k jackpots before they cooled off. Probably spent 4/5k back, but ended up walking out with 20k.

Little payback for those assholes putting me thru the ringer 15 trips in a row.

Dont gamble kids.

Is this seriously a question? There are people who will tell you how much they won, but never tell you what they lost. I knew this old woman, she is dead now, but she loved going to the casino to play slots. If she.. Lets say she hit something that paid her $50 then a little while later she hit something again and won $200. She would tell you how she hit $50 then a little while later hit $200. She would always leave out the part where she would stay at that machine until she had no more money. In her eyes, she won $250 bc technically she did, but the only thing that matters is the amount you have entering the casino and the amount you have leaving the casino.

If you went in with $500 and leave with $600 you won $100.

Let’s say you go to the casino with $500 in your pocket. You hit a $1000 jackpot on the first spin of a slot. You now have $1500.

You gamble it back, walk out the casino with $600 in your pocket.

Most people would tell you only thst they won $1000, regardless of what they walked out with. Casinos have the best advertising in the world, because gamblers only tell what they win and never what they lose.

How many times have you heard something like, “we made enough to pay for our dinner and hotel”.

I like it. When it’s going your way, press it.
A guy we used to play poker with, a pretty bad player, would sit there and lose a couple thousand if it took him all night. Conversely, if he got 300 ahead, he suddenly had to leave. Needless to say, not a good strategy.
Never run away from the deck when the cards are running over you.

I look at it in sessions or tables. For sports betting I might place a few bets in the morning and consider it being up or down on the day. The time of the the kickoff shouldn't determine if I was a winner or loser. If I win the early kickoffs and lose the later ones, it's the same as if I lose the early ones and win the later ones.

If I'm up at the pai gow table and lose at the baccarat table, I treat those independently. If I only play 1 table, it's based on my starting amount.

I have said that I paid $200 for my "free" rewards gift and x amount of drinks.

The actual best odds in the casino are at the blackjack table, if you play perfect strategy. Problem is nobody plays perfectly.
