Gamblers of the OT, how do you do the math?

A little debate we having at work.
Let’s say you go to the casino with $500 in your pocket. You hit a $1000 jackpot on the first spin of a slot. You now have $1500.
You gamble it back, walk out the casino with $600 in your pocket.
Did you win $100, or lose $900?
Same as betting on line, say you bet $100 on Saturday, hitting a few games, winning $500. You don’t take the winning off the app. On Sunday, you lose it all, balance zero.
Did you lose $$100 or lose $500?

8/10 times give it all back, plus what I get out of the atm.

Poker math is easily learned and fun but the only math I equate with gambling besides blackjack. It’s retainment and repetition.

You won 100 in scenario 1, and lost 100 in scenario 2. You always use the net. Anything else is woman math.
"Look babe! I saved $200 at costco today!".
No bitch, you wastes $300

Several years ago, @ Grand Casino Avoyelles(Paragon), playing blackjack, was up $170-175, quit & never bet another dollar in there.
So, I guess I’m still up…

Wife and I have gambled once in our adult lives together. Each started with 200, she spent 60, won 100. I cashed out after playing craps at 470.
We went and had a nice dinner and haven't gambled since

Read a book a long, long time ago before I went to Vegas the first time. Written by some famous pro gambler. One line stuck with me.
Dumbest thing ever said in a casino is “I am playing with the houses money.” When they hand you a chip, it’s now your money.
Point being, when you are “up” and you lose it. That’s your money you lost. You lost $900 no matter what you tell yourself.

You lost $900.
Telling yourself you won $100 is just coping with your stupidity for losing $900.

That’s how I see it. It’s not what is in your pocket as you walk in vs what’s in your pocket when you walk out, you need to count the rake. You could have walked out with $1500, but you lost $900 back, walking out with $100 more than you came in with, in stead of $1000 more than you walked in with.

If gamblers did the math, they wouldn't gamble.

The best odds in the house is the Craps table.
The worst is everything else.
I go to Mississippi twice a month.
Always ask for a check instead of carrying $ 100 bills.

Gambling is a losing proposition for the vast, vast majority of people.

My wife and I gambled once in our adult lives, too.
We were high school sweethearts. She was a real estate agent. I hoped to establish myself as an architect by designing our dream home. We invested everything we had in the project, purchasing beachfront property in Holly Beach and beginning construction, but the recession left her without houses to sell and me without a job. In desperate need of $50,000 to save our land from being repossessed, we traveled to Lake Charles to gamble with the last of our savings.
At a casino, she caught the eye of a high roller while I won over $25,000 at craps. Reveling in our winnings, she assured me that she loved me regardless of the money. The next day, I lost everything. Leaving the casino, we noticed a crowd gathered to watch daddy warbucks play baccarat. He asked my wife to join him for good luck and she made a winning craps roll on his $1 million bet. As thanks, he insisted on paying for our stay, giving us a lavish hotel suite and a dress he saw Diana admire. After an enjoyable evening together, he offered us $1 million to allow him to spend a night with Diana. I refused.
Later, Diana convinced me to agree to the proposal. He flew her to his private yacht and offered her a chance to void their deal and return to me if he lost a toss of his lucky coin. He won the toss and Diana spent the night with him.
It was difficult to go back to the farm once Diana had seen Paris. Things deteriorated. Realizing that Diana would never love him the way she loved me, the rich guy lied to her that she was merely the latest member of his "million-dollar club" of women. Seeing through his deception, she gratefully ended their relationship; before parting ways, he gave her his lucky coin, which she realized was double headed. She returned to the pier where I proposed to her seven years earlier, finding me there. Repeating our unique declaration of love, we joined hands.
I guess we gambled more than once, right? We also have always played bingo on Thursdays.
