Agree on all and thanks for the FB rec, I had been looking for one since you mentioned it previously but hadn’t found any decent groups yet, I’ll check that one out.

Thanks to you and all for the help offered already, the encouragement on the quality of synthetic underlayment was a mental boost, looks like my work held up great during yesterday’s showers so that’s a plus.

Do you happen to know if operation BlueRoof will still install their tarps if a homeowner has a stopgap placed on the roof already? Don’t want them to see my property and pass it up assuming I’m already professionally taken care of.

Stout - I appreciate the info you’ve provided - but as someone in need of a roofer I would appreciate it if you’d let these people say what they want to say. I’m grateful for any info about this process.

If Chicken doesn’t want it to happen, he will put an end to it.

I think they will yes. They understand many people are simply putting up temporary fixes in the worst areas.

I am not soliciting business or advertising here. I was just giving the process that we do. No one knows who I am on here. I guess you are the only one that can be a contractor on here.

Understand. I wish Chicken would give some guidance if it's allowed or not.

No dude but it's clear your pitch was a sales pitch or else why highlight your license vs the home improvement license. I'm just trying to respect Chicken and TD is all.

If I'm wrong then that's fine and Chicken will give his blessing.

I think that license info is good info that homeowners needed to know. Someone saying they are licensed and having a home improvement registration is already dishonest. If they start out being dishonest with the homeowner what else can the homeowner expect. Frankly I don’t need any business from this site I think we are up to 135 houses we have done emergency roof repairs on and adding many every day. Much like you I would be happy to just answer questions for people so they don’t get screwed. Bad contractors give good contractors a bad name.

That's your opinion. In the eyes of the state and contractor law it is sufficient for any work under $75K

The dry-out company I am using will not give an estimate and is going to bill my insurance. Should I not allow this to happen?
My adjuster says to go ahead and allow them to do the work. This is well established licensed company.
Where do I go from here? I need to get this stuff pulled out and dried.

A private business offering free tarps will make you sign a contract that promises they also get to replace your roof. Then if they do replace your roof they jack the price as high as possible to the point some people here in LC have liens on their houses because insurance refuses to pay the amount billed

I learned this morning that my grandmothers neighbor got hit by one of these in lakeview. They are going to give her a new roof for $40k.

She needs to call the state attorney generals office ASAP and turn the company in for unfair business practices.

I wouldn't allow it.

Yea asks LC residents about the "well-established" companies. They still screwed a lot of people over.

Either find a second bid or tell this company you need an estimate in writing and any change orders need to be written, agreed upon, and justified.

I have a good bit of missing shingles but did not have to tarp anything. Should I file a claim first, or have a roofer come first and have them take care of the claim?

How long does it typically take for the blue roof program to get to your residence once you register?

For Katrina I had tarped my roof with tarp and fence boards and they took it all off and trashed it for me when putting the blue roof on.
This time I have three 25x25 tarps on my roof again with fence boards I hope they reimburse.
