I just did a half Ironman last weekend so with that volume of training i know I could do a half and maybe the marathon but the reward for the full would have to be worthy to ensure that kind of pain (during and after)…that would require some serious time in the hurt locker

Missed opportunity to say “farthest from my mind” to make the point gooder

In this hypothetical scenario, are we allowed to stop and catch our breath for a minute then continue running?

If so, marathon

If not, 800m dash

I could still run a 5K pretty easily.

Last time I ran, I fell on my face in the park near minute maid park. So, not very far.

Most untrained people should be able to stagger thru a 5K provided no underlying conditions. 10k starts to get problematic even if you're in pretty good shape. Nothing duplicates the impact of running but running. Unless you train at least to some degree, your knees, ankles or just your legs in general will give out before your lungs do.

I'm talking full grown adults. A teenager who's pretty active could probably wing at least a 10k just because he doesn't know any better.

You weren’t the quickest, or “shortest”, on that point.

No the caveat is that you can’t stop to walk. You have to keep a jogging pace the entire time.

As long as I’m not hungover, I can do a half and maintain at least a jog for all of it. I’d be hurting the next day though. Confident enough to say I could do a 5k at a sub 10 minute pace hungover.
