NB4 trashy

quote:

MONROE, LA (KNOE) - A riverboat casino in Monroe? It could be a reality if the South Side Economic Development District gets their way.

?

SEDD expects the casino to be along the Ouachita River, but it's going to take a few pulls before they can cash out on the deal.

"I think the casino is something that enhances the district," Charles Theus, executive director, said.

Theus said a casino would bring in more entertainment and hundreds of jobs.

"The casino pays good money. We're talking 15 to 18 dollars an hour, people on the floor and then higher-ups make even more money," Theus said.

Theus said the parish could use the extra money instead of losing it to casinos in Vicksburg and Shreveport.

They built an over the water casino just up river and got rid of the boat. It’s nothing special.

This is a great idea. Sure the casino will be a cess pool of low income hopelessness forking over the entirety of their government assistance to a $5 table blackjack dealer, and the parental figures in the comurnity will have even less reason to go home a tend to their children who had already fallen 3/4 of the way into the cracks of despair. But just think of all the money it will generate for the payday loan places and privately owned prison systems.

This has been tried before and failed . Knew some investors in the first effort not sure how much they lost . This is a horrible idea . Casinos need out of area money to survive and they aren’t getting that in Monroe .

My experience with the south side folks standing at the front of the line in their sweat pants 10 minutes at a time scratching off $15 of Fast 50s at 7:30 am while you wait to pay for your coffee you are likely referring to, are not likely to grasp the sophisticated strategy of 21.

No. That’s West Monroe. Unless there’s a stiff, easterly wind.

Casinos really are the worst. They're so damn depressing. I live on the coast in MS and it's unreal how fricking unnecessary and almost criminal they are.
