Let’s hear your memories of BR’s comedy staple.

IIRC, Bill Hicks had a bad experience there.

Saw three comics there in one night. All were great, as good as any on tv. Blew my mind.

Saw some great shows there back in the late 80's. Good place for a date night back then.

I remember the middle aged guy that introduced the comics always told the joke "the last time I got a piece of arse is when my finger slipped through the toilet paper"

Louisiana sucks for comedy. All the comedians even say so

Not true. Lafayette is doing really well, and has the best club in the state, even though it's in a hotel conference room.

Sae Pauly Shore do a huge bit about blowjobs. Women in the audience were either laughing their arse off or had a big Karen face. There was no in between. It was hilarious. And very telling.

Saw Doug Stanhope there. He did a bit on Downs kids and a guy in the audience tried to fight him. It was hilarious but I kept thinking it was staged until the BRPD showed up and dragged the guy out.

I saw a hypnotist act as well. That's when i decided, nope, never. I'd be scared of the words that would come out of my mouth.

Mr. Hershey.
Shop teacher at Southeast Middle (giant key ring on his hip should have given it away).

Blew my mind first time I saw him there. He was a humorless jerk at the school. Now he's laughing at raunchy jokes like he's mainlining Eddie Murphy?

I got pulled on stage for one of those. I was completely sober, not in the mood, and it sucked. Not hypnotized at all but peer pressure made me play along and strip anyway.

Tom Aswell also MC'd there. I think he worked for the state as a day job. Nice guy.

We would go all the time. Comedy clubs are a great value for the money. I wish we still.had a main line comedy club in BR.

Went for the Erotic Hypnotic.

My buddy got hypnotized while sitting at the table with us.

We stopped the show to get them to bring him up.

He told a girl he wanted to lick her belly button.

That’s all I got.

I believe David Cross got jumped there. He references it in his letter to Larry The Cable Guy.

Some other comic also had a bit about being brought home to bang a hotwife, but I forgot who it was.

It was also the backstage for a few concerts at Triple A. Thats how I will remember it.

Add-On: I’d also like to pay respect to Jason Leonard who’s been running Lafayette Comedy for about a decade and is breaking through the national scene in a very unorthodox way.
