Funding for new I-10 Bridge in Lake Charles may raised by tolls

Sorry if germans, i searched and didn't see anything on this.
I lived in Sulphur for 8 years and have a lot of acquaintances venting about it on facebook. Apparently it is wrong to make folks who use the bridge pay for it.
I get there is a lot of economic benefits that folks who don't use the bridge will get from it but I'm more of a fan of a tollway than raising taxes. There is another bridge to use if you don't like the tolls.

they had to crop the heck out of it to not have plants in the image.

Much prefer tolls over increasing gas tax.

I support tolls for paying for stuff like this. That bridge needs to be replaced badly.

Make the truckers use the right lane and only charge them. It’s no skin off their arse, they don’t pay the tolls anyway.

Don't tolls only exist until it's paid for? At least up to that point, it sounds like a perfectly fine way to pay for the cost.

Can we place a toll booth at the state borders and simply charge all the traffic entering the state to use I-10?
The toll talked about in the op would simply be bypassed on I-210. Do they REALLY want I-10 through traffic to be routed around on 210?

The only problem I have seen with tolls in other states as they never seem to go away. Once the project is completed and paid for, they become a cash cow for local/state governments to fill their pockets and they are in no hurry to remove it until they are forced to.

They just need to start building the damn bridge and forget about everyone crying about a $1.50 toll. That might be the worst bridge in America.

To be fair in this state they got rid of the CCC and Sunshine Bridge tolls once they were paid for.
