My girlfriend said she wants a fountain. Something similar to the first picture.

I think it's cool and all. Not in my front yard though.

Would you have a fountain in your front yard? Or do you already have one?

If your front yard/the front of your property is large enough, it's a must.

I live in a trashy area. A guy a few blocks down has a pond, with chicken wire over it. With a plastic waterfall sorted by bricks, an exposed pump.
I've never seen anything like it.

In what way would having a house large enough to warrant a front yard fountain be trashy? Especially given the pics you posted.

If you aren't living in a house similar to pic 2, don't worry about it. It's going to look out of place in your middle class suburb

Make sure that the style of fountain meshes well with the architecture

Make sure that you have a professional landscaper plan the rest of the yard

Make sure that you don’t live in a vinyl-sided 1500sqft shoe box

Don't take this the wrong way, but my guess is her version of a fountain on the front lawn is an HOA bukkake during National Night Out.

Like I said, no offense...

If in front of your $5 million, private entrance subdivision-- fine.

If in front of your $182k McMansion in Zachary -- trashy.

Your house; your front yard. If you can afford it, who cares what some other dolt thinks about it?

I have something similar to the second one in front of my house and it looks good but you can’t see it from the street because of the wall around my property and the entry gate. But the house is set back far enough I think it would still be OK even with no wall. Distance from the street is key.

If you want one get it. If you don't don't. Who cares what other people think?

Our trampoline was in the way for a front yard fountain. Maybe soon I can install one if the BBQ is not in the way

Pics please?

Seriously, it depends on the house, the property and the size and type of fountain as to whether it is trashy to have one in your front yard.
