I don't see anything wrong with a dinner being sold or even a raffle. It's the super trashy people begging on the side of the road that piss me off. Also, the kid better come sell me that raffle ticket not the parent. Lazy little bastards.

Yeah, if they're offering me something in return, I don't mind too much. This new trend where people are begging on the streets and wanting others to just donate to a GFM page is trashy.

He's not a real friend if he's constantly hitting you up for money for his kids. I would never do that shite to my friends.

Tell him to stand next to an intersection with a sign and a bucket. That's where panhandlers belong.

I love jambalaya, I have no problem buying a plate. Will not give money for nothing in return.

Is this the kind of shite that happens in American suburbia?

You lose friends over not funding their irresponsible pursuit of travel ball?

I live out in the country. The ball park where I grew up playing is down the road. If it is them asking for money, I may empty my change cup holder. There are a lot of poor parents, and the rec kids did well, I don't mind. Travel ball: you have to sign up for and commit to paying and playing, frick that.

Also, when a team not from our area is begging for money, it really gets me pissed. Go beg in your own fricking neighborhood.

So have a friend that does yearly fundraisers for travel ball. Usually its a jambalaya dinner, raffle, something like that.

In past I have contributed out of guilt but Im tired of supporting this shite.

Its bad enough they waste money on travel ball but really grinds my gears that they guilt friends into helping.

Hate to lose a friend over this but its getting annoying.

My sister won't let me see my niece because I don't support her (sister's) infatuation with competition cheer. She's broken a bone and they have <0 safety standards. Watched a friend's daughters get sucked in for tens of thousands of dollars while watching his girl's grades suffer when their coach put them into meets in Atlanta the weekend before mid-terms, etc.

My personal theory is that parents who aspired but lacked the necessary skills, extroversion or popularity to be in a sport or cheer or dance are usually the ones who are the most, "into it," and the, "owners," of these ball teams, cheer teams, etc., prey upon these people as a means of allowing them to live vicariously through their children to make up for everything they perceive they weren't when they were younger.

Their children are the equivalent of vanity license plates...

I haven't budged. I won't. Screw that noise.

I have no problem when local teams have a bake sale to raise money. I'll buy those brownies and chocolate chip cookies anytime.

Raffles, you know you're taking a chance on getting nothing.

Straight up donations? Nope.

I quit doing them when the guy would sell football squares and instead of paying back 50% they would only pay back 40%

I'm not guilting you into shite. If you have a problem with our fundraisers, don't buy the dinners or buy the raffle. That simple, cheap arse.

And also, stop trying to act so hard on a message board. We both know 1) she isn't fat now and 2) you didn't have sex with my wife.

But keep on being cool in front of your Tigerdroppings friends, hotshot.

Most of the time when someone says this, the person they're talking to definitely had sex with their wife.

I hate fundraising. I just write that check. I'm not annoying friends and family with that nonsense.
