Can someone provide an update on the tornado watch here in central NJ? Just took a look and saw we're under one. Might be time to head to the basement

it's a good excuse to get away for a bit. I'm more curious because NJ doesn't usually get tornado watches. It did hit 73*F a bit ago, very warm for this time of year

Severe weather probabilities are maxed out for Tuesday (this week).

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, given the broad scale synoptics of this system are so alarming.

Large and powerful system, with severe weather very likely. This could include more tornadoes (some possibly strong) in a similar region from yesterday.

Not what we need right now.

I'm agonna let someone else start that thread.
I got some bad luck with this one. I sure wouldn't have mind it has been a big fat nothing burger than what we've had, and heck even the Eastern seaboard is getting hit.

Video from inside a business in Little Rock that took a direct hit.

Facebook video

Amazing how many cars are just out driving. A lot of people just don’t pay attention and don’t utilize any of the methods to get warnings. Also, these folks ignored the “away from windows” part of the instructions for how to shelter during a tornado.

Can't let that bother you. I started what became the Mayfield thread.

It's getting really strange, and effectively all the US east of the Rockies is now "tornado alley"-- even the Northeast which has always been considered low risk for these storms

I get spring storms and all, but this seems like a bit much.

Just incredible. We're looking at a scenario that can easily outpass the horrific tornado swarms of April 1974 and April 2011! There will be literally no place to hide if you're anywhere in the Mississippi or Ohio Valleys.

And after all that, there have been currently two tornado reports in all of the northeast today. And both reports were from the same storm in roughly the same location in Delaware.

We live pretty close to where that lady was videoing. We just got back from all day clean up at a friends who’s neighborhood is just gone. The LR tornado ripped through some very densely populated areas. I’m amazed that it just skipped across the schools in the neighborhood and gutted houses on the sides of it. God’s big wings around those kids.

Unfortunately being a Louisiana girl, I know how to go into disaster recovery mode without thinking. These poor folks were just shocked, didn’t even know where to begin.

Watching that video…I don’t know how that woman isn’t dead. So stupid! Once you see things flying around like that and you still video? And then the transformers blowing and you still didn’t haul arse to the bathroom? Lord Jesus help us, we are more concerned with getting the video.

In the defense of those out driving.. I had JUST gotten home and it came through minutes later. My weather app said 2:30-2:45 for the worst and then around 2 things went south fast. I think many were caught off guard with how fast that tornado moved from hot springs to Little Rock—it was hauling arse.

The storm in Iowa that produced the two visible tornadoes at the same time has been given preliminary ratings.

One was an EF4 and the other was an EF3.

There were possibly three tornadoes on the ground at once with that particular section of storm that was rotating around the surface low.

Probably so, which is why everyone needs to have a way to get the warnings when they are issued. There were timely warnings issued by the National Weather Service.

It is truly sad that this is one of our skills now.

Every picture I have seen out of Little Rock is bad
