The northern half of that area will have the wind shear but not the dewpoints/instability while the southern half will have the instability but much weaker large scale ascent.

Expect a strong squall line and damaging gusts up north and the south will have some potential for supercells.

Not a Reed Timmer fan per se, but I did find this twitter comment (from a couple of days ago) interesting.

I am very concerned about the overall pattern for tornado outbreaks this early spring as we finish March and into April. Long-range models show a pattern we see every 10 years or so - massive high amplitude storm system after storm system.

Disregard the high strung hype that Reed is prone to just by his nature and he knows his shite and is damn good at it. He's not the only one who has noticed this pattern and pointed it out.

After last week, whomever they pick as "dad" needs to whip some "storm chaser" arse.

They've got a huge area highlighted but they're probably going to narrow it down to the northern and southern parts of it for the highest risk. Looks like it's going to more of a bimodal distribution of severe weather with a derecho forming in Iowa with isolated stuff down towards the northern delta/Memphis where forcing will be weaker.

Spoiler alert

This comment just shows how a lot of people think about weather. If they themselves aren’t impacted, then nothing happened. It doesn’t matter if another town was wiped off the map and two dozen people were killed. If they weren’t hit, then it was all a bust and the meteorologists were wrong.

You can save some words and just call it what it is: narcissism.

Picking kids out of trees a county or two away but it just rained here so how dare I be slightly inconvenienced.

Just like a bad hurricane maybe it’s something that has to impact your life before you can empathize or understand what other people are going through.
