Amazon would have to charge this guy sales tax. If an online purchase is made in a state where the company has a brick and mortar location (Amazon is HQ'd in Washington) then sales tax is enforced.

You likely live somewhere where Amazon doesn't have a DC.

I'd never drive 6 hours to save sales tax as a cost saving measure. I'd do it to say F U to the state government and to just take a little trip and make a day of it.

Ever heard of Amazon? No sales tax and they deliver for free.

There's sales tax on Amazon in WA.

Why don't you have a larger limit on your credit card? Also why are you still using a debit card?

However, if you press the good ole red button and process as credit you can spend 1500..2500...or 5000

Exactly. OP is dumb.

1) Who has a $900 limit on their credit card that doesn't have fricked up credit, a very very thin credit file or is just out of college.,

2) Know how to use you cards. You can have a debit card processed as a credit transaction and that silly debit card limit goes out of play. Additionally, if you process it as credit the retailer eats the fees. If you process it as debit YOU eat the fees.

My debit card has a $500 daily max using the debit/pin feature. Can swipe as a credit card to my account balance.

You know what's going on with WF in L.A.? Opening unrequested, bogus accounts for their clients and raking in service fees. The Feds are after them now.

frick WF; I'm looking for another bank too.

Kinda digging Chase these days. That's what I'd recommend.

I love WF. They own my mortgage and then offered me a credit card with 1-3% of purchases going to principle of my mortgage. They paid $900 last year. I love that deal.

I've never had that problem with my bank. Now, I can only withdraw 400 bucks at time from an ATM but I can spend until I'm broke with my card.

My WF debit has a $7500 per day spending limit. I'm sure its a protective measure in case the card is stolen, the thief can only do so much damage.

$500 limit is retarded though. OP must have a jacked up situation.

they do suck. they held a check from my client--who had paid my invoices every two weeks for over a year--for freaking over 2 weeks once with no explanation. the debit limit is also ridiculous--I have like 6 accounts with them and a very long history. AND they randomly change the terms of my accounts and start charging me a monthly fee, about once a year. I catch it after a few months, and then they take like $5 off and act as though they just did me a solid. I'd ditch them but they happen to have a ton of branches in the various places I live/travel. oh, and their Android app blows. I hate BOA too, but at least their app will deposit a check even if the penmanship of the maker isn't absolutely perfect.

No I don't think so. I think it's part of my "Platinum" benefits package.
Yes, believe that, I have platinum benefits! Such a baller.

1) why is your daily limit so low?

The default for me was 500 for cash withdrawals, 1500 for regular.

2) if you had planned this in advance it probably would haven't been a problem, because you can ask for them to increase their limit.

You tripped some red flag by attempting to buy and THEN trying to upgrade.

Although I do agree it's rather silly that they can't verify identity to their satisfaction over the phone.

There's a reason for this. Your daily average in your combined accounts probably doesn't justify much more and they are afraid of you over drafting too much.

I'll also give a nod to USAA, if you can get it. Frick Capital One or Chase. They will throw you under the bus as well.

How can a bank throw you under the bus?

OP should have known what his limit was.

I told them I drove 3 hours to Oregon to make this purchase and they gave no fricks. They were willing to throw me under the bus over $30 dollars. I told them I was getting a new bank on Monday because of this.

You give no fricks about "throwing the state of Washington under the bus" over $160 (less fuel cost and the value of time), so why should anyone care that you were "thrown under the bus".

Also, the $500 limit is there to protect your dumb arse. Who makes purchases with debit cards?
