And for what? A few pool parties and the chance to jump in the pool after cutting the grass when a hose would suffice just fine?

I was going to ask.. How many times does it actually get used. A friend of mine put in a pool and built a pool house the summer before last. Last years, towards the end of the summer we were talking and he told me "we haven't used our pool one time this year. We been so busy with the kids playing ball and other stuff going on, we just never have the time".

It seems like when you think about having a pool, you think you will always go swimming, but once you have one then you think "well, I can always go swimming so no rush".

I haven’t had to buy anything other than chlorine and acid, sounds like you just aren’t good at keeping a pool working

My wife likes to skinny dip on hot nights. That makes it worth ten times the cost of maintenance.

None of this is true.

I love my pool.

It's at my cousin's house and they maintain it for me.

I lived in a shitty apartment in Tigerland in college that filled in the pool but left the ladders sticking out of the ground just like that

Not necessarily, but I’ll take when I can get it. Been married for 32 years.

Zero problems maintaining my pool. I find most people who have problems don't actually maintain it or bother learning what to do. If that's you, suck it.

No shite. What kind of psychopath has kids that play ball and doesnt use their pool at least after games. I had a pool growing up and swimming at night after games is one of the highlights of my childhood.

Yep, good friend bought a house with a pool...she was so thrilled. And then got hit with a $7000 broken filter/pump issues first year.

No she didn't.

A new pump, motor, and filter at most is about $2000.
