Cecil Collins would be in the Hall of Fame right now if they had this in 1998

Ask Jeff Goldblum how swimmingly that went for him.

The teleporter special effect was a cheaper alternative.

The Transporter was used in Star Trek, not a teleporter, just sayin.....

That damned system will probably give you cancer or make you dumber assuming to destorys your body, does an A/D conversion, uses bit rate reduction like with mp3's and creates a new "you" on the other end.

Part of your personality will be lost or changed with with encode/decode/compansion cycle.

The end of national borders, military defenses would become obsolete (probably resulting in immediate preemptive attacks), as would bank vaults. Boeing would have a larger problem than just having their planes crash. Every scenic spot on the planet would be overrun with people.

No thanks.

A. It'll never happen

B. If it could happen, however, it would completely change where we live relative to work and how products are delivered from point A to Point B.

The Outer Limits had an episode like this called "Think Like a Dinosaur."

I'd be happy if they could reduce flight times by like 25%-30%

Nothing is free, earthling.

You will be able to pay your way 5 parsecs by indentured servitude 400 years.

Think of all the Mexicans who would be teleporting to the U.S.

We’d wake up one morning and the entirety of Mexico and Central America would be walking the streets of America.

Oh man, I can see it now.

I step in my human zapping machine heading for Japan, lights flash and fans whir, a soft 'ding' sounds and my client on the other end gets one of these:

Eff that. I'll stick to planes.

Don't want a teleporter. Give me instant transmission.

Or give me one of these.
