Thanks for posting this. My discover card info was stolen in this. The firs time someone tried to use our card info, Discover called my wife to verify. On the second try, the guy successfully added himself to our account and had card sent to himself in Florida. They didn't call to check. My wife just saw the info when checking stuff. The guy used his real name and address. Cops could easily go right to his home. I found it easily online. He also took our cash back money, which was a few hundred bucks worth.

This happened to us as well with our Discover cardand guy was in Florida also....I am going to claim the $125 and throw in a few hrs for all the bs involved.

Just to be safe, I am not aware of any credit monitoring i have currently so i may just sign up with Credit Karma for free.

Doubtful. The executives at the top sold stock before they let the government know about the breach yet no insider trading case against them. One ransom software engineer was charged.

Then they had the gall to offer a pay for service that would monitor your credit score because of their own breach. In 2017 Equifax had revenue of $3.36 BILLION and this pool of money is "up to" $425MM. They won't give AF about paying out especially since it'll never reach anywhere near $425MM since most people aren't even aware of the settlement.

I should have lied and said I put in 9 hours of work for the extra $225.

Signed up for my 125, I was eligible.

Check your kids also. All my kids were on the list. If your kids are minors they can get up to 18 years of credit monitoring or the money. If you are submitting a claim for a minor child you have to print the form out and mail in it.

I put my name in and it said I was affected, but when I went ot hte next screen it said you can get $125 if you dont' already have credit monitoring. That gave me pause so I just exited out...am I understanding that correctly that if I don't currently have monitoring they won't send a check?

Of course you have credit monitoring *nod wink*

Bad news gents... The money allocated to the $125 option is a firm $31,000,000. That means 248,000 claims. Once the claims go over that amount, the funds will be distributed pro rata. I've got a strong suspicion the claims will go over that amount for that option

According to faq #6, they have over 500 million allocated for payments.

I opted for the credit monitoring. Had multiple breaches from my data used by others. Hit me at Amazon, Hilton, abd even someone got a home loan for almost $280,000. I filed for 25 hours at $25 an hour and documented the emails and reaches, so I "may" get $650 plus the "free" credit monitoring for 3 years ($19.95 a month) and the extra six years of Equifax monitoring (not sure what they charge for that but probably safe to say $9.95 a month).

$125 is an extremely small penance for the ineptitude Equifax displayed and the damage done by the hack.

Welcome to class action lawsuits. Lawyers get rich. Companies get hit with a bigger fine but those affected only get a little bit of the pie.

You can always opt out of the settlement and take them on yourself if you want.
