This one seems too early to call in terms of path and impact.

Along and WEST of the track will see the brunt of this system. Almost 6 inches of rain at the mouth of the Mississippi. 1 inch in Lake Charles. With a Pecan Island landfall in that one output. Almost 0 rain in Texas.

Where is the swath of 6-8" of rain? How much rain for Baton Rouge?

Anyway, 12z GFS is off the rails...

Now, there is always the outside chance that the trough is slower and takes on a negative tilt, setting up a longer period of intensification.

The 12z GFS said, "I like those odds"

The trough doesn't go negative, but it slows just enough. Geez.

The city could have saved a lot of money and just let this hurricane knock down the building they blew up.

This fast intensification has been the norm the last few years. It will be going through water sitting around 85 degrees.

This GFS run would be Gustav 2.0 for Baton Rouge.

You’re on the bingo card, aren’t you? Haven’t seen it referenced yet but ready to break it out.

Fast or not, that would shred the trees across the Baton Rouge area.

Yep. I'm willing to bet it shifts farther East in subsequent model runs.
