Not watching but from comments it seems FOX8 has been wish casting this thing to New Orleans for the past 24 hours.

They have. I walked in from moving the generator this morning and the wife had it on. Told her to look at TD if she wants accurate info.

Agreed. We also heard the same thing all day yesterday and the track moved 9 miles.

I do think they’ll nudge it east of MC though.

I get it. I send the wife and kids away with family and hold the fort on my own. I wouldn't want to deal with it with wife and kids on site.

Worst case is a nothing burger on the west side and a Cat 1 on the east side.

Anadarko's Gunnison Spar is obviously in or at the western edge of the eye from wind direction.

Dear Mr. Hangover,

Your family is surely appreciative of all the hard work you put in to provide for them and keep them safe. If there are more things you can do in terms of hurricane preparation, do them now. If not, do something to take your mind off of this storm until it begins to affect you. I suggest banging your wife or having a cocktail, or both.

Sincerely,

tOT

Flight-level winds from the aircraft
and a northwest eyewall dropsonde suggest that the maximum
sustained surface winds are near 80 kt, and the central pressure is
near 976 mb. The aircraft have been reporting a large elliptical
eye open to the south, which matches the depiction of the eye in
WSR-88D Doppler radar data from Lake Charles. Satellite imagery
does show that the cloud pattern is becoming elongated from
northeast to southwest due to the increasing effects of
southwesterly shear.

quote:

Due to the increasing shear and the possibility that drier air will
wrap around the south side of the center, little change in strength
is expected before landfall. However, Francine will continue to
pose a significant risk of life-threatening storm surge and damaging
winds to locations in the warning areas. Once inland, Francine is
expected to quickly weaken while also losing tropical
characteristics. Transition to an extratropical cyclone is expected
to be complete by Friday morning.

I'm in oak grove in Prairieville. Can wait to step out into the eye and see blue skies later.

What's that...about a 15 mile jog to the east of the current track?

Well.. black sky at night. Also won't be a clear eye... plenty of clouds. But that's good because it means it's not as strong as hurricanes can be.

The new advisory is basically unchanged on track. No “formal changes east”. Some of these local meteorologist have no more business being on tv more than you and me.

Yeah I just plugged in the coordinates.

5-10 miles either way doesn't really change anything for me, but I'd like to be right nonetheless.
