What if he said this will get to 90mph and then said to expect 95mph? Thats the difference here

Still may not get to a 2. It’s been predicted to be pretty close for a while, but +/- 5mph isn’t a huge deal.
seems like it may have or is leveling off. I thought for sure we’d see the winds bumped up at the last intermediate advisory, but it’s holding steady.

This would actually be a good plot to a low budget USA Network disaster movie. Sentient hurricanes.

In the sequel, the hurricanes and the sharks are colluding.

With all the Katrina references from these talking heads I figured it was a category 7 hurricane.

Somebody probably can. I was just saying, with a storm that has been kinda unpredictable that they shouldn’t go on tv and say “this won’t get to a cat 2”, and then 10 hours later the same guy is saying to expect a cat 2

Yeah that was kind of crazy that most news outlets were celebrating the NHC lowering peak intensity to 90 from 100. Saying a Cat 2 was out of the question.

My opinion on it is that the news weather people aren’t really making the forecasts though. The NHC has nailed this from what I can tell, and to me that’s who we need to be paying attention to.

I’d say the NHC nailed it and the news channels spin their programs the way news channels typically spin their programs

Actually it's not the difference since category 2 starts at 96mph

I get it, and it shouldn’t affect preparations, but a definitive statement less that 24 hours before landfall and then going back on it 10 hours later is a bad look

Let’s be honest, the track has shifted east by half almost half the state in the days leading up to landfall
