So it was a hurricane not a tropical storm. Are you using your own scale?

We got a branch stuck in the roof of our house in Arabi for Cindy. Got it repaired later in July.

As far as the weather guys who post here, we are indeed very fortunate to have them. I haven’t watched a lick of TV hurricane coverage in YEARS yet I’m always more informed about what’s going on weather wise than anyone else in my family.
Same for me.

Right. It was Cindy, not Debbie.

I was at a luncheon after Cindy and before Katrina where Bob Breck was the guest speaker. He was asked why Cindy was not considered a hurricane when it should have qualified as such. His answer was that the National Hurricane Center did not predict it to be a hurricane and that they did not like to admit they were wrong. It was reclassified as a hurricane a short time later.

don't see people in the direct path making as big of a deal as the NOLA/Northshore peeps

Give both sets of people a break. The north shore would be just about the closest place that has a shite ton of very high pine trees and the nola area has awful infrastructure in terms of power lines and flooding. There’s legitimate concern for both places if they’re looking at tropical storm force winds or serious rain fall. The heavy Live Oak limbs in New Orleans always snap and cause power outages everywhere.

It’s not as simple as people make it out to be.

NWS Forcast.

They just lowered the gusts to 60mph.Still too high for my liking but that's progress.

Now lowered to 37mph.

The trend is your friend.

If you had to guess, should the GNO area, specifically plaquemines parish, be worried about tornados? With this storm, I’m not too concerned about the wind/rain, just terrified about tornados spawning. And yes, I did discuss this yesterday but my nerves are getting the best of me right now

Gonna shamelessly repost this in case one of our hurricane guys want to chime in

They didn't classify it as a hurricane until weeks or months later.......I was there......I remember it like it was yesterday. We were prepared for a TS and it was much worse that expected

Where were you?
