Probably barely drizzles in the NOLA area and the schools are all closed this afternoon through Friday. At least the entire state government is open statewide with a "Cat 2" landing only 24 hours away.

You people always beat this drum, but what do you want the schools to do? They’re in a ‘no win’ situation. Don’t shut shite down? Okay, now people are going to have one evening to prepare and/or evacuate for this shite, and then people would be screaming at the sky about not having enough time to handle their business

Roads are a fricking mess right now. I think they handled it correctly

No it won’t.

We aren't on beach blvd but we are on the Jourdan River and currently projected 2-6' storm surge FWIW

Got the boats and golf carts out last night

I like how the flooding and that link stops at the Mississippi / Alabama state line.

Fradella says latest model runs are further East than official NHC track.

Pretty soon BR will be on the west side if that keeps up.

Man the Jordan is a damn nice area. Sold my boat before I moved to Pearl River county not realizing the water access available. Y’all should be fine there but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the river spill its banks on the lower stretches.

What's best for the kids, and not what's best for them. They're off because they want to be off. Any adult worth their salt can handle preparing for a hurricane that won't make landfall until the next damn day, while picking up their kids at 3 PM from school. Coastal parishes, half a day for evacuations. Simple. Don't cancel on Thursday, because you have plenty of time to make that decision once the storm has passed. Friday, they just playing around now. This country used to have balls. Now...we just wilt to tough situations. It's a Cat 1, act accordingly.

Helicopter parents are welcome to downvote and show how much a pussy they are,

Baton Rouge is on the west side of nearly every model on the 12Z run.

They keep claiming this thing moving North and hitting La tomorrow but radar shows it hasn’t moved in 2 days.

Guess it’s about to release the parking break and take off.

Meanwhile, my facebook feed looks like a war zone with people waiting on EBR to announce school closures

I’m not complaining. Still gun shy after what Ida laid on us in P’ville.
