We know that, but no strengthening today likely means not a major

From my nephew who works for the big Fox Weather in NYC.

quote:

Don't listen to NAM. If the storm is strong enough, the shortwave trough will actually aid the strengthening process. The shortwave will disrupt it only if it's a weaker storm. We'll see. There will be a dry slot of air, but it won't matter much if it's a strong storm

Edited to add:

quote:

The short term intensity will matter

Do as you wish with this news.

Perhaps the company might be. I don't know. But I know my nephew is very factual and good at what he does.

Things not looking good. Everyone here is starting to panic. Gas stations I drove by looked pretty full and I expect it to get much worse.

Well shucks, and the weather alarmists were already using that beloved phrase "Rapid intensification is expected".

Conditions really aren’t favorable for this storm to intensify much beyond cat 1.

This entire hurricane season has been a big bust for the weather and news channels so they're going to push the fear to 11 on this one. Even more than usual.

I guess we're on hot tower watch now as it moves from a developing low to a developing tropical cyclone. The quicker it can fire up towers the quicker it'll develop an eyewall.

Well, just got the call that Jim Cantore is on his way to Lafayette and needs a security team, that's basically the kiss of death.

I wonder if he will bring his tactical gear.
