Here's an idea - don't be in the Quarter at 1:40 a.m.

So it is the butthurt.

If you lived in New Orleans your entire life than you understand where the majority of crimes occur and who are the victims of those crimes.

Let me put this whole situation into a perspective that most will understand....

Imagine LSU football is having a bad year. Like a 6-6 season and Les is running the ball 90% and the LSU fans are mad. You know it sucks and you hate it, but you still like LSU. Then think about if ULL and Tulane fans show up every day to flame the board and laugh at LSU fans.

Scruffy wouldn't care. It is just a football team...

It is just a town.

But at least those racists statutes are coming down & no one's feelings will be hurt any more.

You are either naive or slow to think crime only happens in "the bad part of town at 2am".

If me being objective doesn't fit your agenda then but all means call me butthurt.

You missed the part where I said majority.

I see the shite everyday. I lived in an area of town that has had 4 shootings in the last 3 years. It's a mixed part of town with gentrified transplants buying up homes at $280 a sq ft. But it also has pockets of these section 8 hood rats. Everyone of these shooting involed hood rats shooting hood rats. Once the hood rats are priced out completely the MAJORITY of crime will leave with it.

I keep hearing of these stick ups, muggings, robberies, and murder of innocent civilians who are minding their own buisness. It's really sad. But since it's NO I can only come up with an ignorant and racist comment. Just as I say about most of the folks who get abused, killed or murdered by law enforcers. You put yourself in a position to get fricked over! Every single person who roams the streets of that shithole are very aware that there is a good chance of being victimized in some form. And since there are so many uncivilized thugs out there praying on the innocent, it's basically open season for upstanding legal gun toting citizens. ....self defense as eradication?

Out of all the violent crime in Nola, I'm guessing less than 1% affects "normal" law abiding citizens.

The city was packed this weekend with people out and about all over enjoying the good life in this great weather.
Next weekend every hotel room in the city will be booked and there will be 40,000 conventioneers and probably 20,000 runners here for a race. Take a visit and see how great it is.

I'm kind of glad this stuff happens in the FQ because it reminds me of where to never, ever go.

I haven't been out on Bourbon street after midnight in years. Not because I'm worried about getting killed, but because of all of the shitty people down there at that time.

I love all this talk, here & in numerous previous threads, about never going to The Quarter and/or how dangerous it is. Keep it up. Stay away. That way I can continue to go & have a great & safe time every time I go & not be crowded out of one of my favorite places to go for a long wkend.

If $280/sq ft. didn't get rid of them...

I've spent a good number of nights in the quarter well past midnight, as recently as three weeks ago, and have not once had any of that happen to me. Most people I know can say the same thing.

I have as well, before the storm. shite is different now. What it could take for the city to nut up and protect probably the single most identifiable tourist destination in the state is news to me.

There was a video of a guy getting gang beaten and stomped in the very crowded quarter delivering pizzas the other day. I remember a time where NOPD would drag a perp into the alley and baton beat him into oblivion. But the bad guys aren't scared of anything down there anymore.
