Bond isn't punishment. There had been no due process. It is designed to assure the defendant doesn't flee. It's likely the other considerations made it unlikely she would flee or be a danger.
ETA: sounds like there is a plea deal in place as the article references the arrest, bond, Grand jury indictment and scheduled sentencing, but doesn't reference any trial.
