That’s thanks to the 200kWh Ultium battery firing its electrons beneath the floorboards of this 8,000-pound behemoth.

First and foremost the infrastructure is not there for widespread EV use.

Bu the main reason we know this is the wrong direction is that liberal Democrats and Biden Administration think this is a great idea and want to force EVs on everyone.

Which is why the government has to get involved and force people down that road to meet their political agenda.

Silly, the mining process is exactly the same.

Scale eludes you, my boy.
Think of cutting a switch off a tree compared to clear cutting the whole damned forest. Everyone in the civilized world will be “allegedly” driving an EV with a gargantuan battery in this utopian construct, as opposed to walking around with a tiny cell phone battery on their person.

That really is about all you need to know to know it's a bad idea.

But why get mad when that's what carmakers are selling. Supply and demand.

Not it’s not. There are fuel requirements and restrictions they have been forced to meet with more they have to meet in the near future

And in the mind of the environmentalists, the “solution” to this problem (heavy vehicles, massive unsustainable, dirty batteries) is for you to sacrifice your lifestyle for the “sake of the planet”

Their solution is to kill of most of the people so Mother Earth can live in peace.

This is all just window dressing.

The good news is they will be getting some really cool 2023 LSU Baseball championship shirts in the next few weeks.

Clever, but I hope you are wrong. I see college gear and sometimes championship gear in the craziest places, like Nigeria, Kenya, Madagascar, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.

It's why EV's should pay more for their highway tax because of the added weight of the vehicles on the roads/bridges.

This makes no sense.

Why make it a blanket statement of EVs instead of just going by weight?

There is no logic to making an EV car that weights 1000s of lbs than some big non-EV truck cost more for a highway tax.

I would LOL at all the bitching and whining if there was a GVWR based road use tax. All the brodozer drivers already stretched thin on their 96 month note would melt in glorious fashion.

What is crazy is that Tesla can do what other manufacturers can do with half the size batteries.

Speaks to how far ahead of a lead they developed

But even a Tesla is slower to recharge than an ICE is to fill up. ICE dont catch on fire if they get submerged.

Notice to the people of Louisiana:

If Duke says a storm is potentially headed towards you, and you drive a EV, you need to head north that instant. You will be screwed if stuck with thousands of people driving out of town and the chargers are backed up.
Then you heavy arse EV dies and blocks the road.
Then your EV catches on fire when the storm surge comes in.

EV are a terrible idea.

Those pictures tell a horrific truth. When will the people who supposedly care about black and impoverished people finally wake up?? This is cognitive dissonance, saving the earth with "green energy" mandates equals a nursing mother with her baby working in a rare earth's mine. Might at well just send them the money as aid like we used to, and stop exploiting their labor and resources for propaganda gains.

There’s nuance in this argument that needs to be ferreted out.

I think the whole EV movement is absurdly dystopian and futile. Chasing unicorn farts.

However, the notion of “exploiting labor” is harder to define that you might think.

Those people mining Cobalt and other rare earth minerals, including the nursing mother, aren’t forced to work at that “job”. They work there by choice because their living condition and work prospects are poor. That could be related to exploitation, but might just be a fact of nature.

Life is hard for humans. We in the 1st world are just enjoying the fruits of western technology and the social systems that enable it.

Assuming that the working poor are being exploited without asking them what they think is a bit elitist.

Holding the companies accountable to make sure the workers are treated ethically, both in terms of pay and work conditions, should be a priority, nevertheless.
