What is the worldwide death toll again??
Yeah...scary scary people gonna post scary scary things to tank the economy and try to control the masses. Pitiful overreaction..
Call me when cumulative worldwide deaths are more than 1 week of normal flu deaths....Jeez, fear mongers.

Have you read this board? MANY people here believe this is like the flu and we should let it run its course.
That sill doesn't answer why we are discussing the possibilities of doing nothing. Does doing nothing include shutting down schools, cancelling sports, working from home, implementing travel bans from certain areas etc.? If not, it's pointless to discuss

Between all the social media’s and all the doctors And nurses giving their 2 cents, i have no idea what’s occurring because there is like 1 million opinions on it

There have been countries that have successfully done nothing but test folks and quarantine sick people only....I mean it appears that is a strategy that works. Now it does require a vast amount of tests to administer.....BUT why we aren't at least considering that is very interesting to me.
Which countries did this?

So, according to your theory, a bunch of leading academics are knowingly creating false data because they want to tank the economy and control the masses.
Have you ever entertained the possibility that there are some genius level people out there that really care about their fellow man and want to save lives?

right, but according to the model posted in the OP, SK risks a resurgence of cases
guess we will know soonish
And when it doesn't happen? We just go "whoopsie! sorry about the economic destruction we caused. Teehee!"

there are 2 major issues with relying on this data for modeling at the moment
first, we're dealing with data from initial outsets and specific populations. hell we may not even be able to rely upon Chinese data at all. but Italy is the primary source of modeling and it's clear Italy is easily the worst case scenario. just like death rates in the US are completely skewed due to one elderly medical facility
second, the data is simply related to a very specific set of data. these models have to be weight by economic models for a true cost-benefit. it seems politicians are fixated on the "if it saves one life" policy model based solely on the health data

Man I can’t wait for a vaccine for this to be out so that everyone quarantining themselves can decline it because they might get autism. The Flu shot was 45% effective this year, so lets not act like it’s perfectly acceptable to report to work with the flu or play in a basketball game like Jordan did and nobody bat an eye.
Can’t help but laugh at the two faceness of this thing

Hahaha...who controls academia,huh?...Yep, drama queen liberals....and healthcare too for that matter.
They all see an opportunity to use this to wreck shop on the economy...it won't work. You guys are not really scared of the virus...you are actually scared this last huge effort to change the election will fail as the facts don't prove all the shutdowns are needed Thus all the nerves when people actually use real facts in their posts about this virus. Facts ruin your narrative.

Amid these dire trends, South Korea has emerged as a sign of hope and a model to emulate. The country of 50 million appears to have greatly slowed its epidemic; it reported only 74 new cases today, down from 909 at its peak on 29 February. And it has done so without locking down entire cities or taking some of the other authoritarian measures that helped China bring its epidemic under control. “South Korea is a democratic republic, we feel a lockdown is not a reasonable choice,” says Kim Woo-Joo, an infectious disease specialist at Korea University. South Korea’s success may hold lessons for other countries—and also a warning: Even after driving case numbers down, the country is braced for a resurgence.
Behind its success so far has been the most expansive and well-organized testing program in the world, combined with extensive efforts to isolate infected people and trace and quarantine their contacts. South Korea has tested more than 270,000 people, which amounts to more than 5200 tests per million inhabitants—more than any other country except tiny Bahrain, according to the Worldometer website. The United States has so far carried out 74 tests per 1 million inhabitants, data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show.

Why are we discussing the possible outcomes of doing nothing? We've already done considerably more than nothing. Everything in this thread discussing that is pointless.

What do you know that the top scientists in the world don't know?
Has it occurred to you that the “top scientists” will get huge pay days from governments around the world if they can make this as big a deal as possible? These people survive on government grants.
If you think only capitalists in the business world are motivated by greed, I’ve got some bad news for you buddy.
