What can folks out of state do to help those in need?
The best I can offer is my company and fellow employees donating money.
Any organization any one can recommend?

Thanks. How does one know the gauge if the cord has been used in the past?

All UL rated cords must be stamped with type and size.
This one is a 16 gauge 3 wire cord.

Where do we send money? You know relief agencies. Reputable and NOT Red Cross.

After going through this last year with Hurricane Laura the Southern Baptist and Methodist churches had great organizations that came down and did a ton of donated work. They usually shelter at a church so these organizations and churches always put any donations to great use helping out with the community as the churches also did food/supply boxes that people could drive through and pick up. Also this is a another great organization-Operation BBQ Relief that comes in and cooks to feed people in need and workers.LINK /

Contact Tangipahoa government if you can get through. They are working through rescuing people but have a list per President Robbie Miller

Thanks, but these orange cords don't have anything stamped on them that I can see. The fridge is running and the cord doesn't feel warm.

RummelTiger -- too much to ask of you probably, but is there a way to update the first post with a list of reputable organizations to donate to and other organizations looking for volunteers?

I am part of a group that provides free meals to disaster victims. We are based out of Tuscaloosa. We are waiting for a delivery from Sysco that should come Tuesday morning. We will leave for Prairieville as soon as the delivery.
Depending on road conditions we are hoping to be there late Tuesday afternoon.
We are supposed to be setting up at:
Fellowship Church
14363 Hwy 73
Prairieville, LA 70769
If anyone needs to contact me my email is alphaandomegatd@gmail.com.

My BIL's a lineman for a local electric coop in south AL. He just told me they just left town with 12 trucks and over 24 linemen at 9 am this morning headed to the Kenner area and will send another group of 8-10 trucks this afternoon. Hopefully roads aren't too bad and those guys can get in and help get power back up soon.
Praying for all y'all.

I have a quick question hoping someone in police force maybe on to answer. A co-worker stayed behind in Cutoff and no one has been able to reach him. Is there anyway to call State Police and ask for a wellness check in an address? Thanks
